Has scored a brace in the first half for Blackburn Rovers v Nottingham Forest. Seems to be coming along nicely, even in a pretty poor team.

Two well taken goals: www.skysports.com/football/blackburn-vs-n-forest/358256Coyle obviously rates him highly: "I've been an admirer of Gallagher for years," Coyle said. "We had to work hard to get him here. He had the loan spell (at MK Dons) last year but it didn't go well for him because it came on the back of the bad injury he had. "I felt we could impart some knowledge, experience that we've picked up. I've had some very good strikers that have come to me, we managed to help Daniel (Sturridge), Benik Afobe, (Marc) Albrighton for a spell, very good attacking players. "I said to Sam I felt he was in that mould of those players that can continue to develop. "He's not the finished article. He's willing to listen, learn, you see the pace he's got and he can score goals. He's not ready yet but I think in time he's going to be a very good player." Could well see him playing the odd game for our first team next season hopefully.

I'd love to know the speed this was travelling at.

He is beginning to look the confident player that he was before his 'growth spurt'. That was a well taken goal.

It was a great goal and a quite entertaining match.
Wolves were always in it so no surprise when they equalised. David Prutton is an excellent pundit - so much better than the halfwits you get doing Premier or international matches.

Nipper is "on flames", as I believe the youngsters say.
Considering Blackburn seem to be pretty shit and he is pretty much their best player he's done very well to get goals for them.

As much as was a fan of Cortese one thing I did disagree with was he his complete refusal to use the loan system. The idea that our young players would learn more from training with the 1st team rather than playing competitive games of football doesn't seem to borne out in reality by what has happened to the likes of Reed who hasn't really moved on since MP gave him his debut..
As much as I've given Gallagher a hard time I can see how he has developed this season which is down to him regularly playing competitive games of football. I find it staggering that some on here are now calling for him to be recalled! This is the last thing we should be doing.
Gallagher has improved more in the last 3 months at Blackburn than he has in the last 3 years with us.

Not with our current schedule. If you don't play there's little chance of improving.

I can't see how anyone can think that footballers can improve without playing games of football and training sessions and a handful of half-paced Reserve\U21\U23\B or whatever they are calling it this season are no substitutes for League games. We should be looking to send Reed and Hesketh out as well. (in the case of the latter it may toughen him up a bit!)

Not with our current schedule. If you don't play there's little chance of improving. I'm fairly sure there is plenty of serious training going on. You don't need to beast players physically if you're doing shape-based stuff, which they clearly have been as our shape has varied slightly from game to game. And shape based stuff is exactly what young Master Gallagher will need to get him up to speed, especially as he's been playing in a 4-4-2 at B-Burn for several months. If people can't see how a young player can benefit from training sessions then they don't understand the fairly basic concepts of teaching and learning, let alone football coaching.
Let's say he carries on scoring goals at his current rate, so that by January (which is when he could be recalled, I believe) he could reasonably be described as a fairly prolific Championship striker. Well we bought one of those in the last January window didn't we? Why would we not want another one- for free- when we're struggling to convert chances and balance our front three? Physically the nipper is perfect for the donkey work required for our current system- he has prodigious power and pace. Those saying "Maybe next year", I take your point but- all being well- at the start of next season he'll be back to having six other forwards ahead of him and Ryan Seager to compete with as well. I'm not saying he's ready necessarily, but he's in the form of his life and we've got strikers injured or misfiring (or both, in Long's case). This could be his big chance.

For the 1st time in his professional career the bloke is playing football regularly and obviously loving it.
I can't think of anything that would shatter his confidence more than being dragged back to play one of the wide positions of a front 3 in Puel's training sessions and to be dangled the carrot of an occasional place on the PL bench of, if he's lucky, a bit of EL or LC football.
It appears like his biggest enemy (Gary Growth-Spurts) could turn into his biggest friend as he has turned into a great lump of a striker and there's no better place for a good old fashioned lump of a striker to be plying his trade than the Championship.

A lump with absolutely searing pace. Anyway I thought you said confidence was nothing to do with it?

we'd be fecking stupid not to consider getting him back considering exactly how many problems we have with fit strikers (or not) and/or having a form one
This IS his big opportunity and what's more, it's ours as well.
Let's see exactly what he can do in a supportive environment he knows he's going to stay in

Sam McQueen wouldn't have got the prem and Europe starts if he was out on loan. There are benefits either way.
