Sam McQueen wouldn't have got the prem and Europe starts if he was out on loan. There are benefits either way. And in 4-5 months working with Puel he's already learned to do a more than passable impression of a left back. Having never played there before. Funny that.

It does bring me back to the loans debate though. Look at the state of the pitch they train on. Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting that pathetic effort down to the playing surface, but you can see why Saints might agonise somewhat over whether sending a multi-million pound asset to train on a local park is a good idea.

Why are Saints not looking to find a decent satellite club abroad then?

Why are Saints not looking to find a decent satellite club abroad then? Didn't Les Reed say in the summer that they were? EDIT: “We haven’t loaned players out in the past because they’ve come completely through on the journey and got into the team. “Secondly you have to be very careful about the loans you do, and we weren’t too happy with all the loans we did last season. “I’m meeting with Championship and League 1 clubs who would like to develop partnerships with us. It’s not just about the Saturday, it’s about everything they do out on loan.” And Reed says the club is even looking further afield for potential partnerships. “The other thing we might look at is working with a club in Europe,” he added. “That’s so our players can get the benefit of the European type of experience. There is work being done on that front as well, to make sure the loans are meaningful and a stepping stone into our team.”

Yes, but our leading authority on here tells us Les Reed doesn't know his arse from his elbow.

Two prolific academy strikers to call on if needed.
