Now 3-0 as Matty Targett converts a penalty after VVD is unceremoniously hauled down in the penalty area.

And so it finished 3-0 and Saints U23's were much, much better than I have seen them so far this season. High pressing, quick passing and playing for each other. Hopefully Matty Targett is not injured after needing to be substituted in the second half. VVD wandered about glowering at everyone. He truly looks like a less than happy man. Although I have seen suggestions elsewhere that he was very professional and encouraging the other players and being the 'father figure'. The truth was probably somewhere between the two, neither good, nor bad. It wouldn't surprise me to see him playing on Saturday.

I watched the game on the Saints stream and it was a good enjoyable match. Saints could have had more but let's not be greedy and it was good to see them having a pop from distance. Slattery's goal was excellent and Virgil had a great game, with one excellent goal and getting the penalty. It seemed to me he was determined to score and he wanted more than just the one.
