That was utterly embarrassing, yes it would have been expected to lose to Liverpool, but this was an abject performance all over the pitch. No fight, no pride and the manager just doesn't seem to have a clue what to do about it. The entire management team needs to go. As others have already said, at the moment we are sleep walking to relegation. We need to snap out of that immediately.

What a bollocks season so far, we have now fallen back to pre-relegation Saints. I went into the game with no hope and when we went one nil down I gave up.

What really disappoints me is that I believe if you want to slate players or management the constructive thing to do is to offer alternative but sadly I cannot. Boufal, Tadic and Redmond weŕe atrocious, but who is any better. Hoedt was nothing like as good as Yoshi.I suppose Bertie can be excluded, he sometimes looked the man most likely to create something. It's fast approaching look over the shoulder time

I agree with all of that and have a nasty sense of deja vu, it feels like 2004/05 all over again. The difference is even then we could score goals. Pellegrino, Black, Watson, etc., need to be got rid of...I'd add Reed into that list too, his hat is now completely devoid of rabbits to pull out of.

It's starting to look pretty hopeless; and if we feel that it must be the worse for the players, as evidenced by how they pretty much gave up for a bit after the first goal. Unfortunately there's no real sign that MPs got any answers to improve matters...we've been through similar periods with the last two managers, but at least there were signs of the manager trying something different to fix it, but there seems to be an ideas vacuum here.

Just back after a long journey home, made even more enjoyable by some of the more bovine members of our public (Saints and Liverpool fans). When I am not working, I get to every game I can but I am questioning the effort I go to now. There is nothing there. The blame isn't entirely with the manager or Reed either. I really don't think many of the team are good enough and team spirit seems to be zero. The worst thing is, similar to 04/05, this seems to be totally self inflicted and down to complacency.
Feeling proper miserable about it all tonight.

see my post on the morning thread wints76. My sympathies were with you before you went! If it's not the manager or Reed, then whose fault if they are not good enough or there's no team spirit? As the season started we were excited that we had maybe our best squad ever!

As the season started we were excited that we had maybe our best squad ever! We were wrong. But it is still a decent team. It needs livining up though...new keeper, new pacy winger, new target-man striker (one with a proven goal scoring record). Shift on VVD and Tadic and Bertrand if they are not happy. Use the money to get what we need. And start planning for it now, so it's done quickly in Jan. Most importantly, we need a new manager...one who is going to figure out what the team's strengths are and play to them. Even if that means 442 and long ball and getting down the wings, putting crosses in and actually trying to get on the end of them. Whatever it takes. At the moment there is no confidence or belief and the team doesn't even do the basics properly, like pass to their own players, or shoot on target. Hell, what's the point? I'm not going to bother saying the same things every week. The only surprising thing about last night's result and performance is that we didn't lose by a much larger margin. I don't expect to beat Liverpool, but I do expect professional players to be able to shoot, pass and cross better than I can! Somebody higher up at the club needs to be brave and accept that we are relegation fodder. And either plan accordingly for next year in the championship or make some drastic changes now. And it still may not be enough.

Was a spiritless performance.
Weak, bullied, slow - just shit.
What was Tadic doing at the first, Van Dijk chasing shadows at the second leaving a gap as wide as a Pompey lass legs.
Drastic changes needed quickly to stop the rot

Eh? Sorry Roy, but that’s a Saints team devoid of leadership and direction. They’ve not turned up to lose, they just don’t know what they’re doing. How about just being happy with your middle of the road team. C0ck.
