Almost too easy tonight. Team selection was spot on from Nigel and everyone played their part, except Davis who had feck all to do. Barnard and Rickie were superb up front, Lambert holds everything up and his passing was sublime at times. Jaidi and Fonte never looked troubled. Shame we lost some momentum when Lallana went off but by that stage it was so easy I could have replaced him and we would have still won. To think that we are playing so well and we are missing the likes of Chamberlain and Spiderman. Great to see Conolly get a run too and the song about him coming back from the dead was brilliant. All in all a very enjoyable evening and I even had the special bonus if sitting with MandoChris for the second half, what a gent that man is.

Great game and thoroughly enjoyed. A pleasure to meet you, sir, and to sit with you for the second half. My, didn't Saints do well. Dickson was excellent and even cut some stuff out in the centre of the box. Guly scored one and made one. Lambert and Barnard link really well and bring others in well. Fonte and Jahidi make a great central partnership at the back. Much more fun than the Yeovil game. Saints - are - going up, Saintsare going up.

Can I just add that I thought the move for the first goal was absolute class.

Can I just add that I thought the move for the first goal was absolute class. I thought the moves for both goals were excellent. It was almost too easy tonight, and with games coming thick and fast I can understand why the game sort of fizzled out.

The boy Lallana.. what a player. To paraphrase "Brian Clough" in The Damned United... "You don't believe in luck and you don't believe in God, but that night you get down on your knees and you pray for Adam Lallana to be fit to play against Orient".

Oh, and Jaidi was absolutely immense today. He won absolutely everything in the air.

Oh, and Jaidi was absolutely immense today. He won absolutely everything in the air. I reckon Jaidi has been the unsung hero of our last couple of games. His parnership with Fonte looks solid as a rock.

Agree with everything said above and just to bring even more joy to the evening may I add that I spoke to Dan Harding before the match and asked him if he was injured and he said yes but it was nothing to worry about. So as long as we've got him and Lalla back next week we should be OK.
Lee Holmes was with him (both signed my daughter's shirt), I wonder whether we may see him in the team shortly.
I did think Dickson did really well tonight - more purposeful than DHwhen he got forward.
I just hope Stephens' achilles problem isn't serious.

how good would the Lambert goal have been that was saved at the near post? The flick/back heel from Lallana was pure class. The first 15 minutes was the best we have played all season
TOO FACKIN EASY - BRING ON ORIENT

Not a poor performance from anyone really. I thought that, even though Chaplow made a couple of poor passes, overall he was much better than of late. Just hope Lala and Stephens are not too bad.

I think some people (those who sit near me not you lot) seem to think a player isn't playing well unless they are running around like a clueless blue arsed fly, so think Lambert isn't playing well without actually watching what he does. I thought he was good last night. Same with Guly, he can be frustrating at times, but I like him, his goal was great, and his ball to Barnard for the second was really good too. Barnard makes some really good runs, gets into good positions but sometimes he stumbles over the ball or plays a bad pass, but he keeps going and keeps making the runs and usually ends up with a goal. Both full-backs were good last night too, Dickson especially. I think I may love Jaidi, he looks like he just enjoys playing footer, and enjoys playing footer for us. I guess we've all said this recently, but Lallana is just wonderful to watch, I really hope him going off was just a precaution.

With any luck Harding will remain injured. Dickson has proven on so many occasions how much better he is, but he's lacking the blonde hair and sweatbands that Nigel seems to love!

Thanks for the reviews, chaps...makes me feel more settled about attending the next couple of games. Mind you, it's me, so sod's law will prevail with Orient playing to stake their playoff claim FFS!

sorry for the late comments but you know how it goes sometimes…?
I too thought Jaidi was great, it's such a shame we got him when he was knackered, both him and Butterfield five years Younger would have been just the ticket.
I know what you mean about Guly Tone but the fact that people have to shout at him every 5 min to make him play defensive cover (when he's supposed to be right-sided midfield) is what gets up my nose, the going forward thing is fine it's just when he's asked to be a midfielder and not an attacker that annoys me a little, nevertheless he was instrumental in the two goals.
I thought Barnard was brilliant last night, he absolutely ran his legs off and deserved the goal.
I'm a little surprised that nobody commented on Lallana's ability to make something simple (like a pass) into something complicated (like trying to get past five different players and then losing the ball)? He does so many good things but somebody ought to tell him that a simple pass is also allowed from a good player, he doesn't always have to be the flashiest player on the park.
Saying that, I hope he doesn't have something serious up with him, we're running out of midfielders at a rate of knots!
Which leads me onto my two significant worries that came from last night, injuries & exhaustion, injuries is pretty obvious, we are going to have a real problem if we cannot get some midfielders fit especially with the amount of games we are playing this end of the season.
However, my major worry is exhaustion, both Richardson & Dickson (who had his best game for us that I've seen last night I think?) were completely out on their feet, so was Guly which I think was why he was substituted and the hero of defence Jaidi was also seriously exhausted by the end of the match.
I hope there's some kind of sports science answer to this, anybody know anything about that kind of thing?
To end, I didn't want to be negative with this post as I may have given that impression I apologise if that's the case? It was a nice easy game last night and I felt very comfortable and not at all stressed, just the kind of football I would like us to end up getting out of this league with, well done boys.
