Pat's nephew Toby didn't know and is contacting other family members.
Toby suggested I try Bill Anderson. Done that now.

Hopefully it's a case of no news is good news. If something terrible had happened that I would have thought it would have emerged by now from his family on FB. I know Pat has been battling a terminal illness for a while now but fingers crossed he's got a while left yet.

For what it's worth, an operation of the type he described would likely leave him in no condition to be on the internet for a fair bit of time even if things went well. Definitely sending good thoughts his way.

I have been home for 2 days after my emergency operation. Although the operation went well, I am far from recovered. But I AM GETTING THERE... Thanks to some very good caring from a whole team of nurses, carers, family and friends. And I include all the members of this site, whose messages have been a part of encouraging me at a very dark time in my long term fight aginst bowel cancer.
Ther's no doubt I could easily be dead. My operation, and chance of surviving it was 50/50 ...and still is. When being put under general anisetic (SP),I was convinced I would not wake up again. 6 HOURS of skill from the operating and recovery team preformed a miracle of biblical proportions. My only recollections of that time was conversations with people I love some not here anymore. Of course I must have imagined it, but I LIKE TO BELIEVE THAT SOMEONE WAS LOOKING OVER ME.
I am very tired , thankfully not hurting..but absolutely gobsmacked that this team of surgeons took the chance to give me a chance to live. The cancer infected bowel is gone. Evertime I think of this I cannot help get emotional, 3 years of getting ready to die is now gone , replaced by a hope of planning for a future..
Once again my friends thank you for your thoughts and prayers, they helped no doubts.

Pat
I read posts on this site daily and seldom contribute. To learn of your recovery has brightened my day. Draw strength from the support of your friends on IBO - even those like me, who are not vocal on here, are rooting for you. You have been in my thoughts. Enjoy this (and every) beautiful day.
Best

That sort of puts things in perspective doesn't it?. Whilst the most many of us have to concern us is the fortunes of a footer team or minor everyday niggles there is a good guy who got dealt a poor hand but has coped admirably. Good on yer Pat.
