Was just thinking of you orde They’ve just done an item on Sky News over here about Covid in Texas. Despite spiralling infection rates the death rates are fairly low and they were at a hospital in Houston where they are giving a cocktail of steroids, anti coagulants and vitamins which seems to be doing the job and survival rates are over 95%. Hang in there. Which leads me to another thought, I spend at least half my time now questioning whether what I see and read is actually true and what the journalists angle actually is? there are very few that I actually trust, and even than I wonder if the details fed to them are correct. Wasn't technology supposed to make information more readily available? Instead misinformation seems to rule these days. A bit like the "paperless office" being full of things to generate even more paper documents

People blame social media for everything these days and say that it's the main cause of all life's ills but, I suspect, that the truth is that it's just exposed the truth about people en masse. That they're mainly made up of lazy, un-reasoning, poorly educated , mean spirited, petty minded, over-active, underachieving gits who are quick to rush to judgement and condemnation and seem to spend their time organising virtual lynch mobs with unflinching certainty..
Other than that, they're fine.

By their very nature, people tend to 'friend' people of a like mind on social media and good and bad views tend to get reinforced, so it is fairly straightforward for agents provocateur to inject their poison into receptive minds. The problem is that the individual platforms are being held accountable for the rubbish people post. Facebook at least are trying to do something, but only after advertisers put pressure on them.

Having a digital business that has a large audience my experience, over the last 4 months, echo’s St Baz’s statement. Anxiety, apprehension , boredom has led to your very apt description of, I would say, 30% of an audience of circa 200k, have nothing but vitriolic diatribe. I’ve now banned them . Social media gives them a platform to espouse their bile. That is the difference between now and the 40’s. If there’s a national crisis today’s society gives them a voice. How that’s regulated comes down to the admins .Sorry Channers but at least we’re in the same boat 🚣🛳🚢🛥⛴ sometimes they sink to the depths.

If you invite the Shakes it will be dangerous I was bloody right though.. The very first 1st day of flights resuming; 2nd flight in - 1 plague carrier... so no doubt everyone on that plane and whoever was in touch in them before they were made to isolate has now got it. So now we've gone from 0 cases back to there being a risk.

So now we've gone from 0 cases back to there being a risk. It's mad isn't it. The reason why it reached epidemic levels over here and most countries is air travel. If we really want to stamp this thing out then all countries should isolate for one another for non essential travel for as long as it takes until this thing is at negligible levels. If the argument for not doing this is that it will kill the aviation industry then fine, let the govt subsidise it - it will be far cheaper than having to subsidise EVERY industry as is happening over here now. I'm sure everyone can go a year without foreign travel.

Here (and in many other countries), it's not people wanting to go on holiday, but the tourism industry wanting foreigners to come in... also, that's good tax revenue lost if tourism shuts down. I agree, though; bloody mental... it's almost as if money is more important than people. Oh, I see...

Fabulous Frank we'll hop on a plane & bring a toothbrush - Quick few questions ? Should we book accommodation ? Is your garden large enough for a 6 berth tent ? Would you like us to pack homemade curry ? I'm sure the £100 windfall will take care of the drinks & full english in the morning. Thank you for your invitation Frank. We look forward to it.

Well I had earmarked the voucher for the offie, but the Mrs has some deluded notion we should give it to charidee! Space is at a premium, I'm afraid...you want a big garden over here, you're going to have to drop over £1.5m, treble that if you want a sea view. Should be plenty of hotel space right now, for some reason. Can you take curry on a plane - does it count as a liquid? You wouldn't want to risk it in the hold, though, low pressure seepage could play havoc with your smalls. Mind you, weather's more shrimp on the barbie, than curry.
