Ernie: "Well put it away someone is coming."
Sad to see the Hamster's rising from the depths but they appear to have too much talent. Think what they'd do with a decent coach. Saints and Chelsea must share the blame for this - without those 12 points they'd be 3 adrift of Norwich.
Lovely day. Will take the dogs and pay a visit to the local Spar. Don't really need anything other than change so I must spend a few pence more than a multiple of a fiver to ensure we can get a Times and a 50/50 loaf from the Newsagent on Saturday.
Can't be arsed to watch the Scousers tonight. Am already sickened by their extended celebrations and pleased that City fans don't have to witness tonight's grovelling. Seems I've recorded the Downton movie so we'll watch that instead.
4 days to City and counting...

Morning
Just stopped raining and the rest of the day looks as though it might be halfway decent.
Smiling to myself about people moaning about VAR and summer drinks breaks, as though any of it actually matters.
Dog is with us again, so we need to go out for a decent walk in a while, once it dries out a bit after all the rain.
Interesting thought about actual money. I still have the same £10 note in my wallet that I have had since the beginning of March and the same pile of coins on my dressing table. I use Apple Pay all the time now.

morning, hope everyone is well? We all are good.
West Ham was a bit of turnup for the books, whilst I agree their fans are generally a bit horrible, I kind of like the club… They have ridiculous pretensions based on glories of the past but I'd still rather watch them stay up than Tottenham!
Bournemouth game was on TV last night, I watched it, they were bloody terrible… They are not getting out of it. Good, teach them for being arrogant twats, Saints fans used to have such a good relationship with them… The fact that it's soured to the degree that it has is all down to them. They used to be our little cousins that we enjoyed joshing with, now I just want them to disappear like Wigan.
If only Portsmouth would do that as well…
The day is looking up, I see sunshine

The last thing I would want to be obtaining now is a load of notes and coins which have been handled by god knows who.
I think Covid may hasten the end of the use of cash. (along with the positive side-effect of hopefully bringing about the end of The Public Transport).

Morning
Nice here too, fwiw.
I did have a note for much of lockdown, but of course the Mrs has now spent it. I can still see some need for cash if (like us) you like buying produce off stalls (although one of them was taking honesty revolut payments, I noticed - except it didn't have the right details to do so). Buy by and large though, there doesn't seem much use for cash, anyone with a small business will be taking apple/paypal now or in the near future, you'd think... of course, the people who'll really suffer (as if they aren't suffering enough already) are waiters etc..keep the change is psychologically a lot different to adding some extra on the bill, when you doubt that actually goes to the waiter. What will probably keep cash going a fair while, of course, is the black/grey economy...
Speaking of things I haven't done in lockdown, I'm going to the barbers at lunchtime.. I guess I should tip them extra as there's a lot more to cut off than usual.. except, of course, I don't have any cash.

Wotcha!
Spits of occasional rain in Sussex (West) however when the sun really tries it's not a bad day out there. The garden is doing well, we had the first of the runner beans last night. Very nice they were too; big bunches of grapes in the greenhouse, we got rid of the outdoor, white, ones last year before the building work started. The greenhouse ones are Muscat ones. Black Grapes Matter! Plums are looking prolific this year too; all I have to do is keep the wildlife off it all.
VAR and poor decisions generally are a bit like the weather, always with us. Railing against any of it is a bit pointless. Save yourself for things that you can do something about.
T is out with the hound so I'm saving myself up for climbing/leaning inside the replastered hearth to paint it before the new fire stuff gets fitted next week. Farrow and Ball paint is recommended by the suppliers..... at £85 per tin? Final coat only mate! Flooring to be laid after that then the decorator comes back to paint the sitting room. then just a couple more bits of furniture to add to it all ...... then we're done. I hope!
Community transport to organise before the new school year, how to make it safe and, firstly, see how many of our volunteer drivers are still up for it.
'Tis a busy life somedays.
Have a good day y'all and stay safe.

The last thing I would want to be obtaining now is a load of notes and coins which have been handled by god knows who. I think Covid may hasten the end of the use of cash. (along with the positive side-effect of hopefully bringing about the end of The Public Transport). While I agree with most of that, I actually enjoy public transport. Or, to be more accurate, I used to. Whether I will consider it again is open to question. For me, driving into Bath and trying to find somewhere to park was an absolute fricking nightmare, usually accompanied by cries of "never again"! Balance that with being able to walk to the bottom of our road (about 150 yds), wait no more than 25mins on a weekday and about half an hour later, get off right in the middle of the city. Every trip was an adventure, as there were all strands of society on board to watch and all free of charge. If you get bored, there is always a fee copy of that days Metro newspaper to read. Trains are a different matter though, unless you go first class, they mostly tend to be both extremely expensive and packed. Absolute pain in the neck. An excellent example of private enterprise not working. In my experience French trains are excellent, German trains are excellent, Italian trains are excellent, Japanese trains are absolutely superb. We just seem to be absolutely useless at organising the existing infrastructure, as for the future we have the likes of Crossrail, years late and hilariously over budget and don't even get me started on the folly and futility of HS2. Increasingly I am coming to the conclusion that, as a country, we couldn't even organise a drinks evening in a micro brewery. I guess flying comes under the same sort of heading. Short haul is dreadful, full of the proletariat, with all the alcohol fuelled nonsense that goes with it. Long haul is a different matter, I love that, except for the lack of legroom in economy, which has got progressively less over the years, to the point where Premium Economy now has the same legroom that economy did twenty years ago.

Phew. Knackered.
I don't want to go on public transport at the moment, but I think we need more of it. Cheap, regular, clean and publicly run.

This. Plus all fossil fuel cars off the road within 3 years. Nice. dream on I'm going to lease a couple of Electric cars for myself & the Mrs. £236 for an SUV & £130 for a Fiat a month 2 years. No tax, 200 miles range. Charger at home is £400. Good size battery will charge in 15 mins at multiple points over the UK. Cheap, Help the planet, No fuel costs. At the end of 2 years replace it for a technically updated version. You know it makes sense Rodney
