So, the games are coming thick and fast now, with the compressed season. Next up is the Cup game against the 'almost a Premier League team', Brentford. They came so close to promotion via the play-offs, but it wasn't to be. although we haven't played them since our League One days, they are still a decent side and not to be underestimated. The match is at St.Mary's, but without crowds, does that make any difference at all these days?
Can't say that I have any idea who Ralph Hasenhüttl will put out, but I expect some changes at least. Maybe Forster will get a start at least.

The old potential banana skin. Our squad is pretty thin so I would like key players like Ings to be rested. Maybe something like: Forster Valery Vestergaard Bednarnek Vokins Smallbone Romeu JWP (ARE THESE THE ONLY FIT SENIOR TEAM MIDFIELDERS WE HAVE? ?) Djenepo O'bafemi Long Subs: People we've never heard of n/b. You can watch this game on-line through the FL web site for the princly sum of a tenner. Think I'll give that one a miss... If you're that way inclined, here's the link: carabaocup.live/

Well, I listened to the latest Total Saints Podcast (thanks Mandochris) and they seem to think it'll be a near first choice team with only a couple of changes. I must say I am more inclined towards SF73's version above, both in what I want and what I expect. Could Salisu play too? Brentford were close to promotion but have lost Watkins now, I think they will be weaker although these are the kind of games where Saints normally seem very uninspired. Perhaps a 1-0 win or it'll go to penalties or something?

Our first team needs a confidence/enthusiasm/energy boost, so not too many changes for me;
Forster
Walker-Peters Bednarek Vestergaard Vokins
JWP Djenepo Romeo Tella
Adams Ings

If we want to win, and we should the cups are Saints only chance of glory and we should be OK to stay up, we should be playing our strongest available side

If we want to win, and we should the cups are Saints only chance of glory and we should be OK to stay up, we should be playing our strongest available side Agree, and Ralph's hinted it'll be pretty much the first team. However, I'd definitely rest a couple of key players, just in case and give lurch a go in goal.

Semmens said we cannot hope to win the League in the short to medium term so success can be measured in giving everyone a buzz by doing the big boys over occasionally and maybe winning a Cup. That would suggest we should be trying to win this thing, especially if we don't have EL to worry about. Another reason to play the first team is they need to get their mojo back. Put the players in who need to be introduced to each other again becore Saturday.
PS What is all this about resting players after one game?

More about having them 100% for Spuds as (despite what you say above) it's kinda important we at least get something from this game after fecking up last weekend, and early doors may be a good time to play them before they get settled.. isn't it Burnley a after that, another one we struggle against? I really don't want to see us with 0 points from 9 as a start. Bums, can't get the official stream here...anOther option it is, then.

I can't remember seeing Nathan Tella before, so will be watching him closely, or I would be if I had paid £10...
