Morning
I know that I ought to be used to it after all this time, but I am fed up with my hopes for the new season being comprehensively trashed, almost as soon as the season starts.
Anyway, typing this as I wander in a masked, dazed state around Waitrose, pushing the sanitised trolley, while MrsC selects stuff. How quickly this has become routine.
Will make a start on the watercolour spreadsheet when we get back. Also need to get some cement to redo a small paved are in front of the kitchen window, so sounds like a drop in to B&Q on the way home.
Will write a few words about the cup match later. The main structure of the page is already up. I just couldn't get motivated last night and chose to watch something featuring Yvonne Strahovski instead. I think I could be a stalker.
Ah, the checkout beckons.

Morning, all good, like building going on today so the mayhem will not start again properly until next week. No doors on most of the house though so that's quite interesting (outside ones are still there of course) All good here, hope you are well? spot51 & @stbaz, Sounds like we might have Some kind of plan for October… Now it's just wait and see what the world does! Saints, I've already given up on, and I find I can't manage much in the way of enthusiasm but I'm sure that might change if I actually saw them play football… The Wait continues… Tottenham have been told in no uncertain terms to "do one" regarding Ings, let's hope that remains the position otherwise we really have no Possibility of salvation.

Afternoon
I'm not at work, which is something, but I am at the airport, which is a bit unsettling, some very poor attempts at mask-wearing in evidence. Still, at least it's a relatively short wait and flight and it's fairly empty.
Very little hope left for Saints atm.. such a shame when we ended the season on a high and everything looked in place for at least an ok season. At least I'll be missing the next 2 games, then hopefully their act will be got together after the next nonsense break. Of course that's decidedly fucked if they sell Ings.
Next stop broken Britain! Go team cockup!

I've come to the conclusion that we Saints fans have a masochistic trait. How do you tell if you're a masochist? You feel trapped in endless cycles of self-defeat. It's impossible to enjoy pleasure without guilt or shame accompanying it. You feel hopeless about the future.
After the 0-9 debacle I felt we were down. I'm generally a positive person. How on earth can we go from the post lockdown form to this ? After the Spuds game I will eat my words if we win however we all know the chances are slim to none The Sun is shining in Stratford and the weekend is here.It's that time of the week to give us some cheer

A little thought that may raise an eyebrow;
scamdemic… which I believe is based on the Swedish response - i.e no lockdown, no closed schools, no mass unemployment, limited masks, no need for bailouts and yet still a far lower death rate per population than the UK (and most other countries for that matter) with over 75% of deaths being in care homes of elderly with underlying health conditions - oh yes, and also no sign of this so called "second wave"
Just a note of sanity - those currently in hospital with covid-19 amount to 0.0009% of the population (600 out of almost 66 million) which is less than the average amount of people in hospital from car accidents at any one time (0.0066%, so you are 7 times more likely to be in hospital from a car accident than from Covid-19) … or to put it another way 99.9991% of the population do not have any covid symptoms that are more than that of a mild flu at this point in time
For added perspective, the chances of being hit by lightning is 0.00008% so (since deaths in hospital from covid was around 1 in 20) this means at present you are twice as likely to die from being struck by lightning than you are from covid-19

Beating the French is never much of an achievement I guess... Brings to mind this picture a French PM beating some small children at dominoes. I guess you can only beat what's in front of you...

I don’t remember reading about 10s of thousands uk lightning deaths last year...
