Players we need to sell/tear up the contracts of: Lemina Hoedt Gunn Long Elywotsit Players likely to be sold or leave as Free agents: Bertrand Big Yan Ings Players we really wouldn't mind who left if we could upgrade: Redmond Theo (on loan but not sure he's worth a contract unless on v. favourable terms to us) Djenepo Gaps in squad: LBs x 2 RB Backup CM Attacking MF Striker The issue is we can't afford to bring in squad players, these should be coming from the Academy/U23s but our teams are the worst in their divisions in both of these so no realistic chance of this. Ralph has mentioned how annoyed he is in having to play players out of position when injuries hit. I actually think we've got a CB problem again. For all their good work at the start of the season Jan and Jannik have been pretty poor lately. Admittedly that's influenced by a lack of cover from Romeu but not to the extent it's they've been shown up. Salisu looks decent, but I would be clearing Stephens out to free up a spot in the squad for an improvement When haven't we! I think Stephens is fine as 4th choice emergency and Cup game use, but if we cash in on Vestergaard (and I wouldn't be too sad if we did) - then yes, we do need a replacement. If he doesn't go I think we will stick with the 4 CBs we have as there is more pressing (pun lol) needs in other areas.

I agree with a lot of this. Problem with all of these 'upgrade' ideas for players, the actual process of getting players through the door is really quite complex and needs a lot of things to line up. It would also be massively disruptive to have such a high turnover. So realistically we'll still have guys like Redmond here next season.
I've always thought Redmond was a bit harshly rated by many of our fans and at times he's looked like he could really make a big impact. But I've accepted that he's found his level now and isn't going to improve. He'll forever be a bit wasteful but sometimes get a nicely taken goal when the pressure is off and in an ideal world, yes, I'd like to see him replaced with a prospect (eg. David Brooks if Bournemouth don't get promoted), but I don't think this is likely to happen.
A few weeks back I was really keen on Theo joining permanently but he's been pretty limp lately and I agree is only worth a low value contract if he'll agree to one. Guess it depends what else he gets offered.
I also agree about the CBs. I dunno if Salisu has really shown enough to be a starter, but Bednarek has looked a bit sloppy recently and I'd be happier with him as 3rd choice with Stephens 4th choice. Vestergaard is probably at peak value now and there might be decent replacements out there worth considering.
But the problem with all of this is the sheer volume of transfers needed. It ain't a great time to overhaul the squad when we are strapped for cash and need both first choice and backup players! Could be a tough summer.

Seems we are interested in Jacob Murphy from Newcastle. Always thought he looked decent despite him spending so much time on loan. Got a hell of a shot on him and can play on the wings or in midfield.

Good-o.. may not be a first team regular, but great to have him as an option (assuming he stays fit), and he's a different option to Armstrong or the dribbly wingers; also he clearly cares about the club & will be a good role model for the yoof.

Gazzaniga and Rose released by Spurs. Is Gazzaniga now better than Mccarthy? Possibly. Worth a punt as no.2 to Forster?
Also, Rose? We need full backs

Bertrand in talks with Leicester apparently. Fair enough, they are probably too far out of reach to be described as rivals although I'd prefer if he went abroad.
Rose would be a good short term LB option if we can't get a good younger player this summer although at that age they tend to want a higher wage than they really deserve.
I wouldn't fancy Gazzaniga to be honest. Always been a bit mediocre for us and Spurs. Goalie is an interesting position for us, Ralph's rotation policy was obviously with a view to helping him make a decision in the summer but I don't think either made a convincing case. Forster is probably slightly more trusted, but it could go either way and there's a fair chance that whoever gets chosen will lose form at some point and they'll switch places for a bit. I don't see us being able to sign anyone obviously better, so that's going to be our lot in life for the time being.

Bertie going to Leicester is that odious twonk Rodgers really rubbing our noses in it, given bertie's role in that game. To add lb transfer insult to lb transfer injury, I see Targett won player of the season at villa.
