Morning Scummers
Seems the pandemic still has legs to feck things up. Aguero moved to Barca and immediately caught Covid. Looks like he'll miss Copa America but, seeing as European based Brazilians are refusing to return to Brazil because of their third wave, the whole thing may well be shelved again. With virtually all of Europe on our Amber or Red travel list, how does UEFA expect to run a continent-wide tournament in the next six weeks? The UK would not grant all their officials, sponsors and hangers-on isolation-free access for the ECL Final so they moved it to Portugal (now Amber) so what makes them think we'll welcome hordes of them here for the business end of the tournament. We certainly don't want fans travelling here whether or not they have tickets.
Given the current situation, the wise thing to do would be to cancel both competitions and give players a proper summer break. They have been playing continuously for 2 years - bar the first lockdowns - but even elite sportsmen cannot keep going without increased risk of injury and god-knows-what impact on their mental health.
I vote we pull the plug on both the Copa and the Euros and focus on an early start for 22/23 season and the bloody Arab world cup.

Morning Folks Feeling a lot more positive about life now that our son is recovering from his fall. One thing that I am not feeling positive about is the Euros. Like spot51 I feel that it is madness on so many levels and can't believe that they are still carrying on. As well as the Copa and the Euros, the Olympics should be cancelled. A huge majority of the population of Japan are against it, with COVID being a big problem for them at the moment. Politicians eh?! On other more mundane things, I have an old HP colour laser printer that has been playing up recently and decided as a last throw of the dice to change all four toner cardridges, which are both large and expensive. Managed to find some decent quality ones on Amazon, although not OEM ones, for 50 Quid for all 4. Fitted them this morning and suddenly all the problems have disappeared and we can print decent high quality documents again. Wonderful stuff. Right, I have lawns to cut. Looks like another BBQ later.

Built in obsolescence, so I googled and opened it up, cleaned the sump and managed to buy a reset code so print numbers back to zero. Now works perfectly and not gone to landfill, I find this sort of thing annoying. Probably also explains partially why I still have a record player as well as other old tech that still has some life left in it.

Oh god no, not the moral argument for not playing football in the pandemic. Didn’t we prove with the PL that was nonsense? The players are all young enough not to be seriously effected by Covid, are all kept in bubbles during the tournament and are all tested. They are also 3 extra places in each squad just in case.
It makes perfect sense playing more games over here give we are so far ahead of things with the vaccine compared to our more backward 3rd world former European cousins like France and their anti-vaxxer nutcase inhabitants.

Annoying that you have to re-code something (How?) just for something basically in new condition to continue working. When we last changed our printer it was cheaper to do that than buy ink for the old one. On the music front a lot of the new stuff I want seems to be (in physical form) only released on vinyl or cassette. I always hated cassettes even in their time of dominance, and have always resisted. Having said that I have inherited a relatively decent vinyl and cassette set up waiting to be put back together, so I should get on with it. It has been sitting in boxes in the front room for nearly 2 years now. I actually still like CDs.

I’ve loads more cds, but never got rid of the vinyl I had, did get rid of most of the cassettes as I too was not keen on them. I’ve managed to get various amps and CD players from cash converters after they died during lock down. I had tried eBay but got fed up being outbid, especially as the amps etc weren’t new or premium.

Channers, great to read your son is on the mend. I work in digital & it's a pain. "Turn it off turn it on". I always look for the simplest solution. CD'S etc great, I too still have the vinyl. I'm afraid societies change with generations. Consumerism etc. I see it every day with my daughters. When I sat on the couch watching TOP OF THE POPS, back in the 70's, my parents would say; "Music was much better in our day". I suppose we have to try and adapt and live with it ?
