For both the last two World Cups and Euros we have covered the competitions with match reports and sections on the IBO website itsbeautifuloutside.net/WorldCupsEuros/This time the competition has been expanded and COVID has only helped add a layer of confusion. Firstly, the whole thing should have taken place last year, but has been postponed until now. Simultaneously the competition has been expanded and whereas in the past it has been held in one, or at most two countries, it is to be held in multiple countries across Europe. As a consequence, we are having to change the way we cover it as well. Instead of doing match reports for each match, this time we will not start that until the Round of 16 begins on Saturday 26th June. In the meantime I am looking for volunteers to each cover one of the six groups A-F. I will do sections on the website with league tables and maybe short match stats. All I want during the group stages is for general thoughts and comments on the volunteers individual group and anything about the venues that interests them. As we get nearer the wonderfully named ‘Round of 16’ the fixtures will become clearer and we can work out who reports on which match. Once that is established the path to the finals will be clearer. So, if you have covered matches in the past, or just fancy ago, then please message me. If you have any preferences for an individual group then let me know. I am not promising anything, but I will try to allocate the groups according to preferences. |

I will watch as much of the Euros as I can, but it's difficult for me to specify that I will definitely watch any particular match, so I might not be much good for this. But if you are short of volunteers then I'll do my best and I do enjoy doing these. If I do get a group then I'd like Wales's, as a local.

Bit difficult as the wife has been in hospital for the past two weeks. Due out soon. I have pointed out to her that it would have been more considerate if she had gone in today to give me plenty of spare time to watch the Euros. Suprisingly she was not sympathetic with that viewpoint.

I think we have enough to get this rolling now. I will sort it out tomorrow morning, then I will have to get cracking on the website over the weekend. Only complicated slightly as our son is being discharged from hospital tomorrow to come home. He still has a way to go yet in his recovery, but so far, so good.

Right, this seems to have fallen into place at the last minute, very much like the Euros themselves! Groups and reporters initially will be: Hope that is OK with everyone. We are not going to concern ourselves with match reports, until we get to the round of 16 at the end of the month. Just look at the groups and make notes of anything in your group that interests you, or things that the rest of us should look out for further down the line. I will post more about running our coverage over the course of the weekend. Oh yes, as Saints supporters the groups we have players in are : B, D and E |

Baaaaaaaaaa! I'm out from 3pm today with friends I haven't seen for a couple of years. I may catch an odd gimps of the footy if the pubs booked have screens, but it's going to be messy. OneBeat! You expressed an interest. How about covering me today? Right, this seems to have fallen into place at the last minute, very much like the Euros themselves! There is so much going on to begin with that it is difficult for everyone to follow every group, so just having a handle on one group is enough to be going on with. Highlights of the game later should be more than enough. |
