Morning
The sun is shining and I am going out with friends for a late breakfast (Too early to be called 'Brunch'), so we can discuss the start of the Euros face to face, rather than talking football over Zoom, which we have done for months and months and months.
Looking through the front pages of the papers, it is interesting to see the different stances on the expected extension of the final social distancing, mask wearing and ban on large gatherings. The Mail predictably talks of the "FURY" against the extension, but it is very much on it's own. Even the Express agrees with the extension, in the face of the alarming rise in infections of the more virulent Delta variant. A lot of papers make more of Sterling's goal to give England a first victory in an opening Euros campaign since the dawn of time.
Right, time to get a crack on then.

Morning Scummers
When you get the Daily Fail and IDS (Irritable Duncan Syndrome) agreeing on anything you know the door to the loony cell has been left unguarded.
Some good matches yesterday. Pleased for Sterling who has suffered from the rise of Phil Foden - bet he is glad Mahrez isn't English. I see Bernado Silva has had enough of bench-warming and wants out of City. Get your cheque book out Gao FFS! The Austria v N Mac game had elements of a kicking match but was lifted by great goals. The angled volley for Austria's first was FAB.
Out early again today.
Keep happy.

I see club ambassador MLT is urging people to ignore govt. advice and refuse to wear 'muzzles' after 21st June..... Oh dear, lockdown seems to have lead to him struggling with reality.. I guess losing his job won't've helped. It looks like they've removed the requirement here (apart from transport) today; so I imagine most people will stop wearing them in shops. Not sure I'm too happy about that when infections are on the rise (mainly UK imports, of course).

Morning all,
Thoroughly enjoyable weekend; beach and bbq with lashings of ginger beer football. The Ingalun match was a bit inconveniently timed though, but I managed to leave the beach at 1.45 and get back for a couple of mins after ko (then back by 4.30) so didn't miss too much of the hot day. Today is even hotter, but I'll be stuck in here.
Aside from that I've only seen the opener, about 10mins of the Denmark game and most of the Holland one (in the background while we zoomed), that was a cracker. Can't imagine I'll see any of today's live (shame the Saints Scots are playing the early game) , but hopefully can catch up on some highlights tomorrow eve as the Mrs is working.
Aside from that, need to start getting stuff together for my trip away; no idea where anything is as everything is boxed up / blocked by boxes at the moment. It's K-week this week, most of the floor is down in the kitchen and the actual kitchen arrives tomorrow morning. Typically, it'll be ready just as I go away!

these games being on BBC and ITV is useful as I can record them. Then start late to be able to FF through the preamble garbage and the halftime verbal cobblers.
thought the Austria v NM game was great, like an old fashioned cup tie
England were poor but lucky, which works in the group stages
The Neddys looked good but a decent side would rip their defence apart
Bring onthe ginger midgets, looking forward to Friday when they kick seven bales out of the pampered english superheros
VAR is working well when you do not have english officials deliberately screwing it up to protect their jobs

His weird views were more the reason for his job loss than a consequence of it. Of all the things to get worked up about I can't quite see why people are getting so irate about mask wearing. Even if it goes on for the rest of the year, it's only a mild inconvenience and people in the Far East have been doing it for decades anyway.

Benefit is that it will hide the ugly mugs of the wenches who think that pumping their lips full of polyfilla makes them look alluring as opposed to resembling a cod

I've never quite got that one. One half of the female population is striving for equality, the other half are happy to make themselves look absurd as long as they are turned into highly efficient co ck sucking machines.....

It is #ODD... yeah, they're slightly uncomfortable, but even if you don't care about your own health it's supremely selfish to not wear them to safeguard the health of the vulnerable.. in fact, given most people haven't had colds for the last year or so, maybe they should make them mandatory for the future. Had to chuckle at the weekend, the Mrs has someone who works with her who's a constant anti-mask whiner (got a government exemption card, even though she's got no real medical grounds for it) and of course hasn't been vaccinated. The Mrs had agreed to take her away for a break off the back of some work they did a couple of years ago (obviously postponed...), and they were about to book a trip to Guernsey (as there's not many other options) but now she's found there's no point going as she'll have to isolate for the whole trip because she hasn't been vaccinated. I tried my best not to laugh in her face.

You would like to think they would be scuppered by needing a vaccine passport to do anything. Hopefully this will require more than your paper, hand written vaccine card as this would be about as easy to forge as the fake id I had in the US in the early 90s was....

It's a shame, but much like old people who get stuck in Daily Mail land, it's easy to get isolated into your own wierd echo box once you stop mixing with other people. I dunno, here it's all linked to your social security card, so you just need that when re-entering. We do get printed certificates as well, though. As she's pretty marginal in society here, she probably won't see much impact from not having the jab, apart from occasional travel but she can't afford to do that anyway...and of course, her not being able to go away isn't her fault it's "THEIR" fault.

I would be considered by many to fit the "old" comment but I am a hater of the Daily Fail as much as I presume you are. Everyone who is capable of having the injection should have it if only for selfish reasons in protecting themselves but perhaps fear of needles may come into it.

I wasn't lumping all older folk together, just the ones who allow themselves to get insulated and isolated from the rest of society. Don't think needles have anything to do with it, the anti-vax lot are basing their "reasoning" on the supposition that the vaccine is an evil plot to control us.

I just can't imagine why people get so wound up about it. When I am at the Abbey, I am wearing one for 90% of the day and quite frankly, I forget that I have it on. It is only a problem with people that are unable to speak clearly.
