Morning
Up and out early, we have a booking at the local recycling centre and we have a ton of stuff to recycle.
Bit depressed about the forecast for the weekend, as we are meeting up with friends that we haven't seen for a long time and persistent rain would put the mockers on any thoughts of a picnic in the grounds of an NT house further down the M4 corridor. Ah well, England in the Summer, what do you expect?!
Another disappointment looks like The Tomorrow Wars, which Amazon paid over $200M for. It is out today on Amazon Prime, but the overnight reviews have been slightly less than complimentary. Something else that I have been looking forward to.

Looking forward to Belgium vs Italy tonight. My eldest daughter has zero interest in footbabut has decided to support Italy because "they give their anthem 100% when singing"
Last day at work then 2 weeks off, taking the paddleboard and kayak on a UK tour for the whole time.

Morning Scummers
Really enjoyed having Wimbledon to fall back on during the hiatus in the Euros but the next 2 days should be interesting and/or exciting as St Petersburg, Munich, Baku and Rome host their final matches. Then all back to ours for the last knockings.
Summer is bloody hard work since we buggered the climate. I finally saw swifts the other evening - bloody good job they arrived now and not during that cold spell in June or they'd have fecked straight off back to Africa and not bred this year. When I was a nipper, Summers seemed to comprise long, warm days one after another but now, when it is not pissing down it is balls-achingly hot which helps no-one. My weather app told me 18C yesterday. OK for me to park the dogs and grab a sneaky lunch in Costa before a quick trolley push round Tesco. It was actually 22.5C and too hot to leave my aged spaniel* in a parked car. Found some shade and left the rear-door up which meant I had to limp to the car park to find a trolley to keep me upright. PITA!
Looks like a dry day today so early walkies before back here for wall-to wall sport.
*TBF the Bodeguerro loves the heat. Being from Andalucía, she likes nothing better than lying on hot concrete in the full glare of the sun.

Who believes in Omens?
Couldn't get near the Canoe Lake today - too many GBP in the way (bloody Lemings) - so I paused briefly on double yellows to feed the Canada geese and their lovely goslings. Then headed to the top of Ryde and took the girls to Haylands Rec. This was (in a former life) where I last played in a "competitive" football match.
Lovely up there. Three lads kicking about on one of the pitches and otherwise just dog walkers.
When we got back to the car and watered the Canids I opened up the windows, cranked up Classic FM and set off for home. On came Andrea Bocelli (Leicester and Italy) singing one of his huge ballads. Belting out as I drove through Ryde, any Belgians would surely be quaking in their mayo-stained boots. Forte Azzurri!

Evening
Busy day but managed to catch up enough to clock off early to catch the Spain game, sadly they've scored early..whatever result you want, the Swiss scoring first would've been preferable for spectacle. And now embolism off ffs
Mrs is out working this evening, so have the telly to myself for tonight's smorgasbord of football.

Oh man. Austin FC finally won at home, 4-1 over Portland. Felt like a playoff game.
