Morning
Between England matches. Need I say more.
Meanwhile there is also a feeling of anti-climax this morning, as it seems like just another ordinary Monday. Boris and his henchmen are making me feel uncomfortable with their libertarian mantras. Freedom at any cost. I can't shake the feeling that it may all end in tears. Yes, loosen restrictions, but keep a sense of proportion please. It just feels like we are being run by a group of immature adolescents.
Saints return to work this week, so we may get a picture of the new season emerging. I am not ready tp return to a full stadium at the moment, but that feeling may well change, as we approach the start of the season. Our little gang of three are due to pay the balance of our season tickets at the end of the week, so we are committed from that point of view. Just a shame that economic uncertainty hovers over the club. I just hope that some positivity can be generated by Semmens and Hasenhüttl as the days roll by.
I am dog sitting for a while today, as son and daughter-in-law go to get their second vaccinations.

morning everyone
It's a strange morning, I was afflicted with the weird malaise yesterday and it hasn't really gone today… I'm not really sure what it's all about but hopefully my get some positivity soon… Maybe if somebody tells me all the bullshit in the news isn't true and all the idiots running the country aren't completely ignoring all the "experts" again then I will start to feel better?
In other news, I found there was a new series of Mayans MC available, I suspect it's going the same way that Sons of anarchy did, but that was good for a few seasons before it got rubbish I'm hoping there may be another one or 2 left in "Mayans" before it goes down the pan.
Talking of pans, all the plumbing work I've had lately has still left me with a leaking toilet I can't use… Hundreds of pounds later… I fecking despair sometimes!!
I am getting weird feelings of remorse about not renewing my season-ticket, although, in all honesty, I have no desire to go back and sit in the middle of a crowd of people at all. I do however miss the idea of live football quite a lot.
Hopefully Tuesday & Wednesdays televised games will help me feel a little better about that by being brilliant examples of football if nothing else.

In terms of developing a new vaccine, testing it, producing it and getting it into as many of the population as possible I think we've done quite well compared to other nations around the world. The mask thing is an odd one, the link between infections and hospitalisations/deaths seems to have been broken but we will still continue to wear them for a while I think. orde , Texas has been pretty much back to 'normal' for a while now with no mask mandate and full capacity at sporting events, bars, niteclubs, etc. How are things looking over there?

Hospitalizations and deaths remain low. I only saw one in the hospital this week, and she was a transplant recipient who didn’t have severe disease. Most places have signs that say if you are vaccinated you don’t need to mask, and maybe 1 in 5 are still masking. They are undoubtedly also vaccinated. I’ve been watching the delta variant closely. There are definitely multiple cases of vaccinated people testing positive, but they don’t seem to be getting severe disease. The cases we are seeing in the hospital are overall younger and unvaccinated. I’m a bit dismayed that under 12 aren’t getting vaccinated yet. They are little transmission vectors and of course some do get severe disease and I think we’ve had over 300 pediatric deaths in the US from covid. Immunosuppressed individuals and those with kidney failure have decreased response to the vaccine, so there are still those who do the right thing who are at risk, and herd immunity would be nice to protect t them. We’ve shut down our covid isolation dialysis shift because case numbers are low enough each unit can handle their own. We have >85% vaccination in my clinic and haven’t had any positive cases in a while. Still, I’m conflicted on my own personal masking. The literature suggests if you are vaccinated masking doesn’t do much to protect you personally. Studies are imperfect though, and this past year that I have been masking has been my healthiest ever, despite being up close and personal with sick people in the hospital daily. My gut feeling is they do more than we think.

I have pretty much decided that I will continue to wear my mask indoors in shops, pubs, cafés, museums, theatres, etc. Most importantly, I will continue to wear a mask at work.

Afternoon Mehnday, then; boo I was affected by a malaise yesterday too, but it was just a hangover. Still, the weekend's footer deserved a small sherry... I'dve been alright, but the Mrs went nextdoor with a bottle of wine while I was watching England, and was fairly sozzled when she came back for curry & the second half. The neighbour then came back to ours, followed some time later by her husband, who'd been watching in town, and the celebrations carried on for some time. Meanwhile, the kitchen floor has finally been finished, the new windows and doors just arrived and we should be getting the kitchen worktop tomorrow, so may actually be able to start unpacking some stuff back into the kitchen soon. Speaking of, we've got one of those combi microwave / ovens now... anyone got one and able to explain how that works? The fecking thing's full of metal, and I thought you weren't supposed to mix microwaves and metal?!? No idea what's happening in the news, and I think I'll keep it that way as it doesn't seem to be doing you lot any good. When the footer's not on, we've been watching the new Fargo; some critics have been negative about it, but we've enjoyed it.

Moreover the instructions say you should put a spoon in your cup when reheating drinks. I'm baffled.

I'm still floating after the Austin FC win. I've just finished an incredibly busy week including weekend call (my iphone screen time report dropped by 1.5 hours per day) and finally have the day off to savor it. I read a nice article on what changes to personnel and formation were made that resulted in the win. It's hard to know what is sunshine pumping (Portland is suffering player loss to injuries and international competition and it was a mid week game after all) and what is legit, but it's still exciting. And they just signed a Senegalese CF who looks really skilled in his highlight reel. Sadio Mane v2.0?? Probably not, but I can dream.

Some metals are safe I guess (obvs!) - I assume putting a spoon in a drink will stop it overheating. Stop over-thinking and just follow the instructions. I good maxim for life in general actually.

Just had two vocal tracks from my mate's daughters, they are singing a song on our album, and they both sound angrier than either of the singers in my band (that includes me). Venomous delivery. I was both overjoyed and a little scared.
Other than that, work sucks.
