Not sure where I am at the moment, if we control the game like we did against Germany, Croatia, CR & Ukraine, then we should have too much for a highly spirited and talented Denmark, but will the occasion get to us and we deliver a performance similar the Scotland disappointment? I think I'd prefer the 4-2-3-1 formation but will GS match up and go with a 5? Ok, as I type, I'm leaning more to the predictably nervous . . . . . . .

Oddly nervous! Had no concerns for the Ukraine game but this feels different.

I have a bad feeling about this, and more down to the ITV curse, when matches are only on ITV it always seems to go against us, so hoping for an exception to the rule... The independent suggests 70% win rate for BBC and 16.67% for ITV ... link

Well I'm the odd man out at present, I feel a reasonably comfortable 2-0. The sympathy feeling won't be as evident tonight, this thing has our name on it

Dunno..
..I still haven't decided who I want to win. For the benefit of the neutral, England really should step aside and allow Denmark to win for the sake of "the story".

McK the Hamster rang to discuss the match. We were at Wembley in 96 when England last reached this stage. We decided that Gareth would match up Denmark's 3-4-3. England struggled with a back 4 against Scotland's wing backs but stopped Germany's when he matched them up.
Seems he has decided not to tonight, so watch out for Stryger and Maehle getting behind our midfield or dragging Rice and Phillips out of the middle. Saka may be in to counter Maehle but I don't want to see Sterling going backwards on the other side. Bonus is England do get Mount in the side so he has an important role tonight. If he gets time on the ball, he can feed the forwards or even have the odd shot or two himself.
The Danes seem quietly confident...

I’m watching - What I see is who on Earth Knows? The commentary has just “It will change your life” I really don’t think it will !

We won with the dodgiest penalty I have seen for a while. Lucky, lucky, lucky!
Vestergaard will have added to his worth with that performance...

I absolutely agree with that. When I found the team I recruited were getting a bit stale I got in help to see how we could improve. HR showed us Myers Briggs personality tests and, to my horror, I found all but one of my guys were INTJ (like me) and he was INTP. Effectively I had brought in clones of myself. We addressed these issues primarily by education and recruitment but also by bringing in external consultants to help us learn different approaches and, frankly, how to be a bit weird. It literally changed our lives. We then enjoyed the very best years of our careers and our services were constantly sought within the organisation. Members of my team were soon being asked to speak at conferences both here and abroad. Vive la Difference!

I agree that it probably doesn't get awarded very often, but there was contact (in fact the Danes had earlier nibbles at Sterling earlier in the run) and it's not good defending to even tap the legs when the attacker is in the penalty area, they gave the ref the excuse to award it. Sterling just made the most of it, it's what players do. I've seen pundits say they'd be angry if it was given against England, but I'd also be angry with the defender for making the challenge. It was not a factually wrong decision, so I'm not sure what the fuss is about. I'll go into this more in the report (might manage to write it this morning), but England were so dominant at that point that it seemed likely that something was going to give eventually.

That was a 50/50 penalty decision in the PL every weekend. Sometimes given, sometimes not. Not sure Vestergaard did much to increase his value, he's played to type all tournament, on occasions looked good but makes mistakes and was culpable for a couple of goals they conceded and was caught out a few times last night including being done for pace by Kane (lols) and getting a yellow card while trying to chase him down.
