Those already missing football can take comfort from knowing both the ECL qualifiers and Scottish League Cup begin today.
I shall be getting my sport fix from tonight's Athletics and the Open from Royal St Georges (you know, named after the tinted bloke from Asia Minor who became a Roman Legionary but ended up executed by his comrades for choosing the wrong religion - so beloved by stupid white England fans) which starts on Thursday. May also take a peek at the British GP next week-end but fear, given Silverstone being a "speed circuit", we may witness a RB Honda led procession instead of the traditional Mercedes led procession.
Begun my Euros final match report with the aim of posting sometime today. However, my girls demand a walk at *Mike's farm this morning so I'll need to get it done before Pointless starts.
*Mike was with McK and I at Wembley in 96 to witness Germany beat first England then Czechoslovakia. He was so traumatised by the former he has never been comfortable watching England in big games ever since. Last week, he and one of his nippers put money on Italy (at evens) to ease the pain of another England loss. He didn't even watch the game on Sunday but his son phoned shortly after kick-off to say Shaw had scored and Italy's odds had just increased. They both piled more dosh on Italy and cleared £1100 by the end.

Morning all. I’m feeling deep shame today for the astounding gaps in my posting on here. I enjoyed reading all the replies to my rant and I’m really going to try harder to contribute more regularly! I too had money on Italy as an insurance policy spot51. It didn’t help! Only £10 - a free bet from Bet365 at evens. Nicer was the free £10 bet on Italy v Spain going to pens that cleared me £45. Feels good to get one over on one of the betting companies that have become a scourge on our society - and yes, I know it is fairly hypocritical to say that when I’m guilty of having the odd flutter…

Morning all
Nicer out today and have shaken off yesterday's blues (due no doubt as much to the hangover as England's result). Don't think I'll be missing the footer much for a while, will be good to have a bit of a break (albeit only few weeks now). Shame that wimbledon coincided, I didn't watch much due to the footer, but there'll be Olympics highlights to fill the sport gap soon.
Meanwhile, all eyes on "the numbers"... final restrictions are due to lift here soon, as in the UK; but with cases rising so sharply, surely it seems madness to give up trying to control the spread even if many are double-jabbed. The Mrs is teaching in a plague-pit school this week, so that could be interesting.

Something struck me yesterday about England reaching the final. In my sadness at England going out, normally I'm able to console myself with the rest of the tournament, pick a new side to support and enjoy the games without the tension. It's a nice way to get over the defeat. But it was a double whammy this time, England are out and the whole thing is finished. I've enjoyed the tournament so much and suddenly it's over I don't know what to do with myself, it's been such a nice change from the grind of the Premier League which I'm dreading coming back. Can't we just have another Euros straight away?

I think the euros provided a perfect example of why the ESL is needed and why clubs like us needs the Big 6 to leave the PL.
Football is great when it is between two evenly matched teams. It is very dull when one team is far better than the other and the poorer team is trying to get a draw at best.

He has a degree in and immense knowledge of History and has always been interested in antiques and Objets d'Art. He's given me a couple of lovely watercolours down the years. At the Euro 96 final, Oliver Bierhoff came off the bench to first equalise, then slot Germany's Golden Goal winner into the goal we were stood behind. Germany's #10 Hassler, retrieved the ball and launched it into the crowd where (no Bull) it was caught by the bloke behind me. Mike immediately took a count of all the cash the 3 of us had which came to just over £100. He then offered it to TBBM who shook his head and stuffed the match ball under his shirt. I understand the ball eventually made its way to Germany but am unaware if any finder's fee was paid...

It seems that now the football is over, I have started to feel some affinity with the England Football team. Their collective stance against racists is admirable, and calling out Government hypocrisy is great to see. I may yet become a fan.

Got a last minute invitation to go see Austin FC vs Mexican team Tigres UANL in a mid season friendly, and for some reason said yes. I was a little hungover from my anniversary dinner last night and had to wake up at 530 this am. With the game, I won’t be home before 11pm and have to be up at 530 again tomorrow
