Drinks break in the first half and Saints are 5-0 up. The gulf in class is huge.

Finished 19-1 (I think)
The new players looked good, the young players have improved impressively.

I'm thinking of becoming a Scummeress! They are very good to watch. Last night was just a friendly against a very poor side (with what turned out to be a stand in goalkeeper), but the football they play is great, very quick passing and always looking to get forward as a unit, and they have some exciting young players. This season will be a real test for them, so it will be interesting to see how they get on. I also like the atmosphere and lack of the “razzmatazz” that blights Premier League games. The chips are good too.

I'm thinking of becoming a Scummeress! To be fair I don't think you've got the legs for it.

The chips are good too. You've told us this before Tone but what level are they at now? I think you said it was L2 equivalent but did you say they were pushed up to L1 level for this season? Weren't Southampton Women in the same league as them last season so if they are beating them 18-1 does this mean, even at L1 level next season, they may be beating the opposition by 4 or 5 goals in most games?

They have been moved up to the National League Southern Premier division, one league below the Championship. They will be playing teams like Cardiff City, Ipswich, MK Dons, Plymouth and Pompey. It was Southampton Women’s reserve side last night, and they weren’t very good.

Was staggered to see 70+ pictures from the game on the OS Gallery. Hoping the OS will devote a bit more effort to our Ladies now they are in a recognisable league.

My periodic plea to the powers that be to use a slightly lighter and smaller ball for the women's game. It's improved beyond recognition in the past few decades but still has the look of what the men's game would be like if they had to play with a basketball. I really do think a smaller/lighter ball would improve the game hugely.

I really do think a smaller/lighter ball would improve the game hugely. I agree with this entirely. I watched the first “The Hundred” game last night and it was noticeable that boundaries had been brought in a little at the Oval. Horses for courses… Incidentally, it was a cracking game and first class entertainment… really put to bed the doubts I had about the the format. The only annoyances were the terrible lurid graphics and the simplified commentary, which went out of its way to explain some terms to first time viewers and didn’t use words like “over”, but still referred to field placements that a lot of viewers wouldn’t understand. I hope they find the right balance quickly…
