OK, here we go, the pre-season is now wrapped up and the real stuff starts on Saturday against Everton. Historically we are always rubbish there and with both sides looking fairly dire in the pre-season games, I am thinking this opening game might just be a draw, which would be a decent result in my books.
I just don't get what Ralph has been up to with his team selections in all the games so far. Plus his weird minimal substitute thing...
The elephant in the room is of course, WTF are the club going to do about Ings replacement? As long as they do not present us with Carillo 2, or in fact Long as the replacement.
Anyway, a stab at the team (bearing in mind JWP will miss the game)
Forster
Walker-Peters, Bednarek, Salisu, Perraud
Romeu Diallo
Armstrong Walcott
Tella Adams

They will miss Richarlison who'll be flashing his gold medal down on Copacabana in an attempt to get laid for the next month.
There is still the double-barrelled lad to worry about and when their centre backs come up for corners we'll be fooked.
I'd take <9-0.

3 or 4 nil.
Don't forget that RH will obviously (yet inexplicably) pick McColander so that will be worth and extra goal or two to Everton.
For our strongest lineup that is alarmingly weak. How on earth have we arrived here from the team a year ago which had finished the season like a train?

I’m clearly on my own, but I’m quite excited with the potential of the new signings and on balance think we are in a better position than this time last year - if your glass is half full, get a smaller glass 🤣! How’s about;
Big FF KWP Bednarek Salisu Perraud Romeo Livramino Tella Armstrong Adams Armstrong II

If Armstrong's deal is all done and dusted today, then I guess he may well figure at the weekend, but maybe not as a starter, depending on what happens at Staplewood between now and then.

Well we never win our first game of the season and we never win at Everton so good that the two are combined into one fixture this season.

Richarlison has kindly agreed to not take a break after the Olympics so he can score his obligatory goal(s) against us, the shithouse.

Anyway, I think we might see the team now line up as: Forster KWP, Bednarek, Salisu, Perraud JWP, Romeu Armstrong, Redmond Armstrong2, Adams Of course a lot depends on how training goes this week

From the Press Conference yesterday, it does look likely that JWP will be back in the team, but neither of our new strikers, until they have had time to take on board Ralph's 'automisms' and way of playing. I still think Armstrong2 will be on the bench at Everton though.

Our team from a year ago, with the confidence we had at that time, would have had a decent chance of taking advantage of the weird atmosphere Benitez will generate there. Everton won't be particularly fluent, but I think they will be good enough to beat us.

We need to throw in the new curve ball that they have 5 players isolating, lets hope its the 5 players that we need them to miss.
