Morning Scummers
My current fascination with German football directs me towards tonight's DFL Super Cup where Dortmund entertain Bayern. Yes it is an early season pot and not much more but it gives BVB the chance to piss on the Bavarians' shoes which they'll be eager to take. Upamecano looked unsure against Thuram on Friday so how will the cope with Haaland "The Hulk" tonight? It will be worth watching.
Bloody Pompey already have 2 wins from 2 and tonight face bottom of the table Shrewsbury at Nottarf Krap. Boo!
I hear Jacinda has whacked Aukland into lockdown after they had their first +ve Covid test since February. What must it be to have a government with levels of competence that don't embarrass their citizens?
Grey again out.

Grey again out. I'm not sure pursuing a zero Covid strategy is such a great idea. Putting an entire country in lockdown after a single case can't be done again and again. Even Arden says the borders can't stay shut forever....

Even Arden says the borders can't stay shut forever.... Do your research. They have very low levels of vaccination, thanks to Europe's hogging of the vaccines (Yes, that includes us), but they are currently planning to vaccinate the entire population by the year's end and cannot let an outbreak start at this crucial juncture, hence the lockdown. The long term cost to the nation is projected to be way less than allowing the virus to run rampant, as we have done. Not to mention the mental health benefits of having a largely normal life to this point.

Afternoon Back at work after long weekend.. I'm kernackered and have a 3-day-all-day-meeting (1 day down) which is really lovely to come back to. Still it was a nice couple of days; a bit of touring with our guests followed by a bbq party for the Mrs' birthday, where the weather stayed compliantly sunny.. hard work though, as I made most of it from scratch. Particularly pleased by the char siu ribs and my first attempt at gochujang chicken. Finished up last night with a blues/jazz evening in the park with a picnic.. finale from the big brass band was a rendition of OWTS! Doubt there's any good news out there, so I won't look.

Didn't go anywhere exciting today, although S did get some new running shoes. But I did send my band's album off to the pressing plant, that shitty Record Store Day nonsense has gone now, so it's just Covid and Brexit delays we have to contend with, we may get the actual records back before the year is out, but I'm not holding my breath. Better get the sleeves sorted now!
