Well, another day another game, this time a League Cup game. How will Ralph surprise us with his team selection this time? I guess that Fraser will be in goal, but other than that, who knows?
This game is not an easy one. Sheffield United will have a point to prove.

Watched them stuff Hull Saturday.
I suspect they will be keeping their powder dry for the league campaign but who knows? With Hourihane from Villa and Gibbs White from Wolves their midfield is improved on last season. Hope they stay on the bench.

With our improved depth we can now put out a very strong 2nd string, all of which will be pushing to prove their credentials for a 1st string run out, perhaps something like this;

Pretty even here. I think Djenepo looks like he'll create something for us. Burke had Valery on toast for 15 minutes, but he swapped sides. He's big (a bit taller than Salisu and about a stone heavier) and fast and looks likely to create something for them. Lyanco is doing OK, got a card for some pushing and shoving with Mcburnie, but Mcburnie can and does start fights in empty rooms, so no surprise really.

Close one. Sheffield United were up for it. Adams looked good when he came on and it took a special save from Fordingham to stop him getting the winner. Good move for Salisu's goal. Tella a took a quick short corner, got it straight back from Ward Prowse then put in a low cross which Salisu got to first.
Overall, we looked a bit disjointed. Salisu, Tella and Djenepo all had good games. Valery and Redmond less so.
Two good saves in the shoot out from Forster. The four penalties we scored were all put away well, Broja had his saved.

Found it very difficult to follow the match, with no WiFi and only 3G coverage. 5G is just a distant dream down here. Doing the match reports from last weekend and tonight will have to wait until I get home on Saturday.

Sloppy from Lyanco for their second goal. It looked like there were quite a lot of chances for both teams in this game. While this obviously wasn't a full strength side it wouldn't take many injuries for us to put out something similar, but at least we got over the line.
I read that Jack Stephens is out for 10-12 weeks so we might be needing Lyanco in the PL before long.

Hate to disappoint Furry Frank The Combat Wombat and I know you were eagerly awaiting my opinion of the Lynaco's debut so I would have to say it's the worst Saints debut since Alan Bennett seemed genuinely surprised that a football bounced. I think this from another forum adequately sums up his performance.  |

Early days yet for our new central defender. Easy to poke fun, but having said that, I have just felt from the beginning that this was an odd signing. I look forward to being proved wrong.

I think this from another forum adequately sums up his performance. Not sure where you got the idea it was my idea to sign him, but carry on.
