Like Boufal he was one of those players who could do well in top leagues in other countries but was never going to cut it in the PL. To be honest we've been awful since Les Miserables forced Koeman out of the door. That seems ages ago now.

Players that would add value to lesser leagues in the better teams but never cut it for us. I was always disappointed because you could see their ability, but it just wasn't working, Boufal, Clasie, Gabbi, Osvaldo, even to some extent Redmond. Let's hope we don't have any in the current crop of new recruits

He saw what happened and when Koeman signed Mane and VVD but all he got when he tried were that lot and Hoedt/Lemina. We seem to have binned that approach off and replaced it with the buy youth team players from the big boys. To date this would seem to be doing ok, Lavia seems a hit, as does Tino (albeit a bizarre signing as not as good as the incumbent RB) but Small and Simeu are looking likely to never make the grade and the jury is still out on the rest.

Simeu is very confusing to me. He's been getting MotM shouts from the L2 fans every week since he's been down there suggesting he's far too good for that level and yet we couldn't organise a L1 or Championship loan this season. Hopefully there's a recall option on his loan and we can get him a higher league should he keep performing as he is

He's only played 4 times, been on the bench a lot and has only been starting the past couple of games.

He's played 3 League games, two they lost, 2-0 and 2-1 and a 1-0 win so I can't think he would have got many MoTM shouts.

Did our fans used to do that on Twitter with Stephens?

I liked Gabbiadini, even if he was patchy for us.
He might not be great, but he still rated higher than any Ingalun player last night.
