Last season we conceded the first shot on target 21 times. We are now 3 for 3 this season. (Appreciate he wasn’t in for the cup game). We’ve conceded 8 goals from 11 shots on target.
This idiot in goal is a joker, he doesn’t save a thing. He has no saves in him.
We should have won that 4-1 FFS. 32 attempts and we draw.
Now, for FS. Now.

Tell me what a better keeper does about any of the 5 goals we've conceded. I don't rate Bazunu, but I don't see the goals as his fault so far. He's being let down by those in front of him. We're conceding as a team not because of keeper errors.

Same old story, pity the young goalkeeper who accepts the challenge of learning the ropes whilst behind a Saints defence.
Nick Pope, Sam Johnstone .. might get one out of jail there, but the quality of the chance for them wasnt down to the GK.
At this level, Im not sure we'll get much better. If we could shift McCarthy it would be interesting to see if we could get competition, but the pressing problem is CB and how we manage the game. At this level, I think its really worth gold to have a key player at CB or at least an aerially dominant CB, given how bloody targeted we will be at set plays.

I completely and utterly disagree with the criticism of Bazanu on the evidence of today's game. None of those goals were down to him, I don't give a fig what the stats say.

Saints have had some brilliant keepers over the years and I know a great keeper when I see one but that’s not Baz. I also know the impact it can have on the rest of the team knowing that the keeper has got your back. This lot are playing like they will always need to try and score more than however many he’ll manage to let in. That’s fine if you can get four to scrape a home draw against Norwich but it won’t work every time. We’ve wasted the chance to get rid of him now and will have to suffer the consequences. |

In the 2nd half that I saw he claimed some high balls in the box well and smothered a one on one to save a certain goal.
Neither goal was his doing.

I watched my second round of EFL highlights this morning. Bazunu is far from the worst keeper on display in this league based on some of the shocking goalkeeping I saw again this weekend on that show. That's not saying he's the best either, but there was some absolute shockers

Tbh, it's all a bit moot as they're clearly going to persist with him.
However, if we're determined to get promoted GK is a key position and I feel it should be upgraded. They clearly don't agree and we'll probably have to put up with it, but it could be the difference between us going up or not.
Hopefully this rumour about McColander being wanted by Palace is true, as at the moment Bazunu is undroppable, which isn't healthy, especiallyas he'syoungand thereforeproneto inconsistency. If we had a reasonable alternative it would give us an option if he's out of form and hopefully spur him on.
