Christ - I can’t believe I’m climbing off my sun lounger to wade into this sh1t once again.
First goal - free header from the edge of the 6 yard box. Bazunu’s fault…? Come on!
2nd goal - heavy deflection on a shot going well wide. Baz to blame? FFS..!
3rd goal - not nice to see the keeper beaten on the inside, but a great shot. Why was he allowed to get the shot away? No closing down. Probably down to Baz not shouting at his defenders.
4th goal - rammed home from a couple of yards out, just after Baz makes a good save. Bedders and Holgate had really good seats for that one.
5th goal - Sunderland allowed to cross from the left unchallenged. Ball lands on the head of an unmarked player on the edge of the box. Clearly Baz’s fault.
Here it is, friends… THIS WAS NOTHING - NOTHING - TO DO WITH BAZUNU.
it’s the same old crap.
We have no ball winning centre midfielder. No leader to compose and arrange the side. We will rely on Charles to fulfil the Jimmy Case role. God help him.
I was happy to sign Holgate as I thought he might bring some hunger and experience. Early days, but could be that I was wrong. He looked dreadful, but he hasn’t been playing, so let’s give him the benefit of the doubt…
We went down last season because our defenders couldn’t even wipe their own arses.
We have now reshuffled the deckchairs on the Titanic, brought back Stephens - nice guy, I’m sure, but not a class defender, and paired him with Bednarek, who is - and always has been - utter shit.
The exact same CB pairing that got caned 9-0 by Man Utd 2 1/2 years ago. Presumably Bazunu’s fault…
Yes, the same Jan Bednarek who was at the heart of our 3 man defence on that unforgettable night against Leicester 4 years ago.
I hope to god Taylor Harwood-Bellis is vocal and an organiser, who belies his years. We need him to be. Adam fecking Armstrong was our captain yesterday, FFS… Doesn’t that tell you something?
Here’s a stat for you: I had a dump this morning. That’s important, ‘cos my holiday XPoo is somewhere between 0 and 5. It’s a quantifiable stat too - meaningful and not made up by a spotty teenage dweeb who has probably never kicked a football in his life.
Lay the feck off Bazunu and open your fecking eyes!

I’ve just watched the extended highlights and I would urge everyone else confined to bed with COVID and plenty of time on their hands to do the same and let me know what they think.
Bazunu could have come for the cross for the first but chose not to and the header goes straight through him as he dived to his left. How often have we seen that since his cursed signing? Dozens already probably and he’s only young so there could be another two decades of this tomfoolery. Verdict: shit keeper.
He should have saved the second after the deflection from the West Ham reject Downes took some of the pace off and put it closer to him but he couldn’t even manage that. Verdict: shit keeper.
He should have saved the third goal but instead he got beaten at his near post diving to his left (spot the pattern?!) He got a hand to it but couldn’t keep it out. He actually reaches it this time but bizarrely puts his hand over the top of the ball. Does he need an eye test, is it poor hand-eye co-ordination or is it a complete lack of motor control? Verdict: shit keeper.
For the fourth he actually manages to dive to his left and make a save but wait! He’s only gone and palmed it straight out to a Sunderland player who knocks it back into the box and then he seems to get nutmegged before collapsing to the ground with a fake dive after the ball has hit the net. Please note that he also palmed the ball back out earlier in the game but the Sunderland player fell over his own feet and couldn’t put it away so we got away with that one. When I was a kid we were always taught to push the ball out to the side, not to the front but maybe Man City’s Clown School for Talentless Goalies has got a new philosophy. Verdict: shit keeper.
For the fifth he manages to dive to his right (which must be his strong side, right, given that we’ve already established how bad he is at diving to his left?) and again he manages to get to the ball so that’s progress isn’t it? However, this time he finds another way to let the ball in by putting his hand under the ball and flipping it up into the net. It’s amazing how he finds so many different ways to concede goals. That must take some doing. Verdict: shit keeper.
Yes, everyone played poorly but no one else cost us as many goals as he did yesterday, has done since we had the misfortune to pay £10m of actual fecking real-life money for him (when he could have been stinking out Pompey instead) and will continue to do so until someone in a position of authority sees sense and takes him the feck out of the firing line.

Slightly different than forward lines full of Championship players we’ve never heard of.

That's fine, we can't agree on everything. I have a mate who still insists Tadic is shit. I still think Mane is shit. I'd avoid West Africa if I were you.

More xpoo stats updates from your holiday needed! Look, on one level, you're absolutely correct, Baz gets little or no protection from a terrible defence, and many of the goals may not technically be his fault. However, I still think Ivan is right and we won't go up with him between the sticks. Like McColander before him, he's become a vortex of calamity that sucks the ball into the net. I have every sympathy for the lad, it's a tough gig for anyone, especially one so young, but I'd just like to see the odd surprising match winning save once in a while.

Slightly different than forward lines full of Championship players we’ve never heard of. 1st things first… this is a good thread… life would be dumb if we all agreed on everything. I like that it’s good natured and I sincerely respect the views of all the good people on here. 2nd… the holiday is great, thanks. I really needed it! Weather is due to change tomorrow though… dropping to 20c and raining. Just when the UK - well, you know the rest… 3rd… what has Baz done to justify a place in the team? The honest answer is, of course, sweet FA. But, that’s the same for all of them, isn’t it..? We have to wipe the slate clean. We have more than a handful of new players and the rest are ones who couldn’t deliver last season. None of them should have a free ride… they all need to earn their spot. As with many of the squad, I feel that Baz has great potential. He needs to be guided and nurtured though - the same as our other young players. The senior guys need to step up (and I haven’t seen much evidence of that this season). The main reasons I’d continue picking him? He’s not done anything wrong - confidence is a fragil3 thing and it would be wrong to blame him. He’s not McCarthy, who will never be better than he is now. He’s well into double figures for international caps at a very tender age, he was highly rated at City and made the L1 team of the year a couple of seasons ago. Finally… of course the 9-0s were against Prem opposition. The sad truth though is that the defenders who couldn’t cope on those occasions are still at the heart of the current project. Bedders - our most senior player - conceding 5 against Sunderland is, in a way, more shameful than letting in 9 against Manure or Vardy’s mob. I’m far more worried about the Saints defenders we know all about than the Championship forwards we’ve never heard of.

I’m having nightmare visions of Vardy downing packs of Skittles and rubbing his hands with glee at the thought of coming up against Saints later on today.
I read an article earlier today by a Leicester fan saying how brilliant Vestergaard had been this season so I’m only assuming he hasn’t needed to touch the ball yet.
