I am surprised. Was sure we would win today. Until I saw the team sheet then my confidence fell apart. RM says the Board are ‘behind’ the long term project but not sure the owner will be. Am confident it will be turned around but think it will take a few months. Maybe the long term project is to take us out the professional leagues? If so… I’d say we are on track

That game was winnable. Team in dire form, we go a goal up (not that I saw it as SaintsPlay wasn't working)... What I saw in the final 65 minutes was pretty depressing. We look pretty far from the vision RM is saying we will get to.
Make no mistake, 2-1 flatters us. They should have had 2 more on the break in the second half. There were also 2 kamikaze losses of possession that didn't culminate in clear chances, somehow. I don't remember a moment where we really put their goalkeeper under much stress except for an almost own-goal as a Fraser cross was dealt with. As we try to chase the game in the last 20 minutes, we look so clueless in attack.
I realised when they had the 4 on 1 counter after our corner - teams are actually targeting OUR corners as a way to score against us. I have never seen that in professional football before - astounding (and bloody easy to fix - have one less player up in the box, for example). And we are very predictable with giving up that chance. It's becoming a match-by-match occurrence to see Flynn Downes with the ball in the opposition half as the last man, having his pocket-picked by a gang of marauding opponents - it happened twice here.
I understand the deficit we are compensating for by doing short corners, but they've got to stop. Have we achieved anything from a short corner? And the risk we put ourselves under is huge. None of the corners I saw tried to use Shea, who has looked good in the air at set pieces. Mad. Likewise, have we done anything to talk about from a quickly taken free kick this season? - it just seems that when we (regularly) try to be cute and cut through the option quickly with them, that in fact, we just frantically give the ball away.
For the actual goals we conceded - Holgate's error is a lack of voices shouting out the man approaching, probably his body shape in possession as well. The real culprit for the equaliser was we were gifting them possession back for 15 minutes. Harwood-Bellis is having to play as the main man, made a mistake on the penalty but showed quite a lot that he's our best defender. There'll be moaning, but that was a pen. Not much prospect of a clean sheet to my mind until we can line up Stephens and Harwood-Bellis together.
Obviously the intensity of the replace-the-manager shouts is going to go through the roof. This team is naive, low in confidence and blunt up front - perhaps a Neil Warnock type eeks a bit out of them, but I just dont see anyone magic-wanding this out of what it is in the short-term.
What's the next match we can hang a hope on? Rotherham? Where's Sheffield Wednesday when you need them?

Am confident it will be turned around but think it will take a few months. Likewise, I think the teamsheet was a hamstring to our chances. Dont see what the point of the Holgate inclusion was, and the substitution at half time kind of backs that up. Smelt a little of trying too hard to find a managerial masterstroke. Not using Alcaraz in that match at all is head-scratching and worrying. The midfield 3 of Downes, Shea and Smallbone looked a little better, but our midfield is just not going to click quickly clearly, and I fear we wont be able to up our attacking threat until the defensive side improves.

Ooh he’s reaching the dizzying lows of NJ with those comments. Sounds like Charly has his head screwed on and can see the Emperor is wearing nothing.

I would understand the RM comments if Alcarez had rocked up this summer - but since January he was ripping in to premiership sides when all about him were jumping ship. Even if he is not doing what the others are doing as per RM ball - surely just having him on the pitch is going make us a better team.

Afraid I gave up when the penalty was awarded. I liked Jo Tessem. He always put in a shift for us but the utter desperation in his voice talking about another RM shitshow today was too much. I switched off and watched that Norwegian movie about getting the gold reserves away from Hitler's mob. Really decent war movie I thought.
Can't be bothered with Saints till somebody (player, staff or boadrdroom) shows they have a f*cking clue what they are about.

That was everything that's been said about us on here for the last month. We faff around at the back and while we probably complete 98% of the passes when you're making 200 passes in your own last third that's 4 gifts to the opposition a game.
Bazanu was beaten low to his left with the first clear cut shot on goal (he did end up with the ball after a goalmouth scramble, so maybe not the first shot on target). He also dived to the right for the penalty, and you guessed it before it was taken, the shot was to his left.
We kill all our attacking threat by passing sideways. To make it worse Fraser, Edozies and Sulemanna all looked like they could be a threat if we moved the ball up the pitch quicker.
Worse was that Middlesbrough were pretty crap. We tried for most of the first half to give away a goal and their attack looked at the opportunities like most people look at emails from Nigerian prince's.
At the end Russell Martin came over to clap the fans, but turned away mid-pitch when he saw that a few people were waving him away and a lot of people were giving him the wanker sign. Neil Warnock has left Huddersfield and is apparently up for another go in management...

Indeed, I find myself asking again whether he actually watches the game or does he neck a boatload of acid beforehand and is busy watching a team of unicorns doing dressage.

They will have coaches looking at Bazunu and it just shows how uncomfortable he is as bang on went to his right. What a joke
