Very impressive performance and good to get some minutes under the belt for Stewart. Couldn't imagine a better afternoon. Being on the playoffs!!

Brilliant performance - and clean sheet in 2nd half. Though you could tell that the Leeds players had the wind knocked out of them when we started singing 2-0 to the tractor boys.
McCarthy was excellent (I have never said that before), Downes best player on the pitch, Aribo linking up play and Che was superb holding and spreading the ball. KWP back to his best too.
Only issue was Stephen’s being too slow on the ball and getting caught. And Manning looking for a fight.
Great for team leading to the playoffs - and I now Know that Martin does know his best team.

I think we are 4th favourites for promotion All four seem to be quite patchy in their recent form. Last 6 games: Saints - 9/18 (3W, 3L) Leeds - 4/18 (1W, 1D, 4L) West Brom - 7/18 (2W, 1D, 3L) - although I would say it's more accurate to count this as 10/18 because how they lost against Leicester defied science, gravity and any other explanation. Norwich - 9/18 (2W, 3D, 1L) But it's cup football and penalties are the weak man's salvation. Mental strength is the order of the day, so I'm bloody delighted Ipswich aren't in it. Based on us winning at Elland Road, beating them in both fixtures this season and joint best form of the lot, I imagine bookies might make us slight favourites. Of course, we know how it really is . Methinks Norwich and West Brom have absolutely nothing to fear. Putting the cynicism to one side, maybe our April was just so chocabloc that we needed a week on the training ground, and we now have potentially 3 matches in 3 weeks, which allows us to be at our best.

That was good to watch. It was good in all parts of the pitch: going forward, attacking the goal, and, glory be, defending. Well, defending most of the time.
There are three games left. Well, actually, there are two, one consisting of two 90-minute halves on different days and locations. And if that goes well, there is a 90-minute game at Wembley.
I just hope that Saints got through today without any further injuries. Ché sounds as though he is OK, and I just want to hear that Stewart is OK as well.

That couldn't have gone better.
Doubled Leeds, doubled West Brom and unbeaten by Norwich. Fourteen points out of 18 against these.
No problem!

Sport Digital had the German rights to this so I couldn’t watch it on Saints Play but then Sport Digital did this annoying Konferenz thing that meant they kept switching from the road of Portman to Elland and back again so I couldn’t focus on Saints as planned.
I did have Adam and Jo on instead of German commentary but it was of course out of sync with the video streaming so I was hearing about stuff 30 seconds after I’d maybe seen it (or not, if I happened to be transported to Ipswich at the wrong time). It made it very hard to follow the game but at least I could get the gist of what was going on.
Based on that performance it looks like RM has found his best side again after losing it in recent weeks. KWP’s assist was epic and fair play to WS for making the run and putting it away as I was cursing him for fluffing that earlier one on one. Che Adams is one weird striker as he seems to be better at holding the ball up, bringing others into play and setting up goals than he is at scoring them. Thankfully AA got just enough on it and didn’t leather it over the bar.
I think Stephens can be a a bit of a weak link at the back but if he’s good for team spirit then fair enough. THB was a bit unlucky with that header that hit the bar too.
Leeds seemed to lose their way a bit after finding out that Ipswich had gone up so I think the play-offs will be a different matter. I always fancy Saints at West Brom for some reason, despite them having to play at altitude. TBF Ipswich deserved to go up automatically as McKenna is their Adkins and they have some good young players and a winning mentality.

There is a Saints report in the Observer FFS! Guess we are interesting again. Russ said he may try 3 at the back again in the playoffs and said his side had "trained like Beasts" for this game. So, what's the secret THE BEAST ?

A great result. Too early to crow about breaking Leeds hearts as they'll probably win the play offs but it was nice to be part of the day they didn't make automatic promotion even though Ipswich took care of business themselves (what an achievement from them by the way).
We played well, Flynn Downes is something else isn't he. If we go up we have to find a way to make him ours again next season. If we don't Leicester or Ipswich should go for him.
Sulemana needs binning. Good to see Ross Stewart on the pitch.
I'm going to say it, Alex Mccarthy is a better goalkeeper than Gav - at the moment

He's worked out well for them, but I do think that's only in hindsight. At the time I was far happier to have signed Brooks than if we'd signed Moore. Really? We didn't/don't have a single CF but have a myriad of nippy, slight and frail wingers who couldn't finish a fish supper. Therefore the best player to sign in January was (yet) another of these? I think most fans were calling for us to sign a striker. You should apply for a job at SR. Haven't we scored the 3rd most goals in the league? Didn't we have two strikers in the top 6 scorers in the league? It's not our forward play that let's us down it's our defending and keeping

I have bleated about shabby defending for yonks and if, by chance we sneak back into the prem there will have to be massive spending in that department
