Following on from my correspondence with Chris Martin the other week I am proud to announce I have just been speaking to Geoff Hurst.

Richard Chaplow brushed passed me in town a couple of months ago, elbowing me in the arm.
It rather hurt.

I had a short conversation with Prince Charles, until he moved to the next person in the line up.

I once had an altercation with the coont Alistair McGowan in the first class carriage of the 1152 to Soton Central because I was wearing a Saints top. He didn't like sharing a first class carriage with someone in a football top so he tried to get me chucked out.
I had a night out a couple of weeks back with a guy called Lee Dagger, who is I think a kind of DJ. Damned fine bloke. Perhaps Burls knows him.

I said excuse me and did the pub push past to get through to the bar past Michael Atherton in the mid to late 90s in the Headingley Taps. Also spoke to Kerry Dixon as he came into the works box at Stamford Bridge (I greeted him with the words I'm a Southampton fan.. and like a gent he took me straight over and introduced me to Peter Osgood . Does going to school with someone who went on to Captain the English rugby team count? Oh also went to school with that bloke who recently sold something to Twitter for £25m plus...

I spent a few hours with Jello Biafra a couple of years ago. He is better at talking than he is at listening.

I saw Desmond Tutu in the Strand, I was in the car, I'm pretty sure he chose not to flag me down deliberately...

I saw Desmond Tutu in the Strand, I was in the car, I'm pretty sure he chose not to flag me down deliberately... I've danced with Desmond Tutu. You know when you're walking along and someone is walking towards you, and you both stop at the same time with the realization that you are about to walk into one another, so you feign one way, then the next, then back again, until finally you look at each other, laugh, and pass on like ships in the night? Well, that was me and Desmond of Tutushire.

I was in the same year at college as David Nicholls who wrote One Day. I don't remember him. I went round Jimmy Case's house once and his dad made me a cup of tea. Oh and I saw some actor off The Bill in Arambal in Goa 15 years ago.

I was once leaving an Indian restaurant in Chippenham when Benizir Bhutto was arriving. That was seriously weird, there were very few other people around.
I once sat next to Robert Shaw (deceased actor, starred in Jaws as the fishing boat captain) at a school dinner and he told me of the war injury he got when he fell out of the school library window, watching a Spitfire flying low overhead. He had a scar on his forehead. This counts, as I didn't actually talk, I was petrified at being next to someone famous.
