No contest for me yesterday. I think Billy will get plenty of goals playing alongside Rickie.

Sharp every time. You could tell that Billy & Rickie had struck up an understanding already. I just hope that his one, or two 'issues' (as described by Nige) don't stop him ripping into Wham on Tuesday.

Disagree I'm afraid- Sharp looked good for the first twenty minutes but Rodriguez was to my eye clearly the classier player. With that effervescence of movement he would fit into our team beautifully. Sharp will undoubtedly score goals for us as he is a proven goalscorer and Lambert will create the space for him to operate in the areas he likes, but Rodriguez looked the better all-round player to me.

Horses for courses. Rodriguez will prosper in the Premier League, but we need goals now. Sharp is the battering ram to deliver the goals in this league that we need. Time enough to buy Rodriguez in the summer.

Thought Rodriguez was trying too hard on Saturday and much of what he attempted did not come off.
Only a mug judges a player on a single performance. Kenny Miller looked uttershite at SMS but I know, for a fact, he is not.

On saturdays performance I didn't think much of either if compared to Sooper Rickie.........he was awesome. Once Billy puts the pies down and we get him lean and mean I reckon he'll be a good buy. Jay Rod........not worth the £5/6m that was quoted but could be worth a punt next season

Rodriquez is without doubt a quality player and only going to get better. However from what I saw, Sharp is a much better option. He and SRL already looked like they wanted and could play together, he got into some really good positions, but I was more impressed with his work rate, movement and vision. Sharp was aware of what was going on, gave options and brought others into the game really well.
The one tiny fear I have, is that SRL will be looking to feed Sharp, and not get into as many dangerous positions himself.

Hmm, so we want Billy to quit the pies, but you think Ricky is a feeder? This is a worrying development...

Mind you, I do like a cup of tea and bacon sandwich/biccy or even both in bed sometimes, does that make my Mrs a feeder?

Alright in and around the penalty area, but almost non-existent once the ball didn't come to him during build-up play. Contrast that with David Connolly (who sadly seems to be turning into a bit of a target for the nutters, who obviously have very short memories) and note how we suddenly started creating chances again when he came on. Connolly's a bit short of confidence in front of goal at present but he's twice the all-round player Sharp currently is (although Sharp is certainly round...).

I thought Connolly did great when he came on, chased things down and created things opportunities when the cause looked dead, thinking of one corner he won in particular, most players would have given up on that and getting there to put the ball in when it rebounded, ok he started from a very slightly offside position but it was still a heck of an effort

I think the Sharp knockers (oooer missus!) are being a bit short sighted, missing the obvious understanding with Lambert, plus the fact that he has come from effectively a one man team. I have no doubt that he will be a star with Saints.
Also, remember Rickie when he came from Bristol Rovers? He had eaten all the pies and look what Saints have turned him into.

Hey, if we've bought him, he must be good. I've got a bit cross with Nige at times but I would never deny that he knows a quality player when he sees one, or that players tend to improve under his tutelage. Sharp gives us something different to what we aready had, certainly.

I don't think anyone is knocking Sharp just that like Rickie once our boys get to work on him there will be so much more.......but I do think he will score the goals to get us promoted and on Saturday I thought Gully played the right midfield as good as I have seen him.
