People can be snobby about Reading's performance and Chelsea's performance but ultimately it's about matches being won and trophies in cabinets and they're both doing what's needed

I got into trouble at SMS after the Reading game 'cos everyone said (including me) that we'd played some lovely football and I said "I'd have been happier to play shit and got 3 points" and it all kicked off. Mind you this was a pair that had stood up to applaud Hammond off the pitch when he was substituted..........

That wot Spot says. Neville has also praised Luiz for his improvement. I'll take your word for it. A lot of much more celebrated pundits could learn from Matty- he's good because he doesn't really pertain to any great tactical insight, so instead of blagging, he just describes what he sees. Although of course I am highly biased...

Although of course I am highly biased... Matty is the Roy Walker of punditry. Fair play to Chelski.. I can't seem them closing Barca out like that in the A leg, though. And it is the right way to play in those sort of situations, I just wish we could switch to that gameplan sometimes when planA isn't working.

Two things about pundits and last night's match.
1. Andy T just describes what everyone has seen taking place a minute before. Lazy and brain dead, is how I'd describe that.
2. Commentators big up JT regardless of what he says/does because if they don't massage his ego he'll banish them from his inner circle.
ITV continuously shoot themselves in the foot with their football coverage. Some advice for them - get yourself a decent Head of Sport/Football who can rid you of the pestilential clowns you are currently riddled with.

Drogba is a f*cking disgrace. He’s now started lying motionless on the floor to scare the ref into stopping the game. He did it against Spurs and I thought 'ooh, ey up, this looks bad, he’s out cold', the replay showed the ball hit his shoulder. Prick.
If Gaz Cahill wasn’t my best friend then I’d be backing Barca all the way.

I can just about tolerate the diving because it's just part of the game now, partly because referees often won't spot fouls unless you go to ground. The play-acting and exploitation of the rules and of safety regulations is just shameful though. It's time for FIFA to retrospectively punish players who are clearly shown by the TV cameras to be play-acting.

It's the time of year when football lets itself down. Instead of being the show piece spectaculars that the semi finals and finals should be they turn into affairs that contain all the practices that we all hate. I would surrender to the Barca style if it wasn't for the play acting and simulation that becomes increasingly prevalent during these game. Busquets reputation will always be tarnished after that little peak he performed from behind his fingers whilst nursing a shattered face. Drogba was a disgrace last night. Bring back Duncan Ferguson.
