Well, another Saturday 3pm game. How the mighty have fallen.
If Saints son't win this game, then it really will be a confirmation of a relegation struggle ahead. Winning, will at least make us feel better for a couple of days, but we really need to see back to back wins to mean anything at all.
So, who on earth will Hughes throw into the fray this week? Will he stick with the defence that managed to keep a clean sheet, or will he try another player alongside Hoedt? What is it that seems to make Hoedt seemingly bullet-proof and an apparently permanent fixture? At the other end of the pitch, I really can't see any point whatsoever in starting with either Austin, or Long. We need goals and we need mobility. Austin has no mobility and Long has no goals. Long's main use is as a sub in the last third of the game, to come on and run about causing problems for the opposition's defence. As for the midfield, that pretty much picks itself these days.
Above all else, we need to see the team show a bit of bloody resilience in the last twenty minutes and not cave in, as they have done on numerous occasions.

We heard that Hughes had one more game to save his job before the Bournemouth. Does the fact that he is still there mean the performance was good enough to save his job or it was a load of bollocks? (Rhetorical question. "Clever" answers not solicited)

I don't think Hughes is anywhere near being one game from the sack. Our lack of ownership direction and any form of full-time CEO means the business model is just to let things bumble along finding their own (lack of) direction.
I really can't see Reed and Kreuger having the balls to go to Chairman Gao and say they believe it's time to sack ANOTHER manager. They really can't dare to do that again without fearing that the penny may drop that the problem is in fact them and not the manager.
Besides, as we slip further and further into decline the list of managers who would want to manage us gets smaller and more incompetent.
I guess Krugs could go balls out and kick us on down the road we seem to have been travelling and give Big Fat Sam a contract until the end of the season.

If MH is tactically astute he will recall Vesty for this one. Newcastle tend to play high balls in to the box, something he is better at dealing with than either Hoedt or Stephens. Think I would like to see Targett in for this one also.

I have a ticket but am not going - that is my hat-trick of wasted money and the last time I'm doing it. Have not been for over a year now.
Sadly, I'm not really bothered. The only thing I'll miss is the fish supper on the way home. So I'll be doing the dishwasher and tuning in to Uncle Dave. How those guys keep so optimistic baffles me but it is better than getting cold over there and at least I can keep my eye on Drew and the dogs.
