I want "A", but voted "B" as the most likely...Saints glacial "leadership" will wait until his position is utterly untenable, rather than the current completely untenable. I don’t understand the club’s stance, that they want to give him time to turn things round. It is not like there is a long list of managers who have been terrible at the outset but suddenly everything has transformed. Genuinely, the only precedent for this I can think of is Alex Ferguson. And it isn’t like our problems are imperceptible. The defence is clearly incredibly poorly organised and suffers from poor selection. This is on the manager. We are the most neurotic team I think I’ve ever seen. We panic when we score, we panic when we concede. Again, this is on the manager. And given the way we fade in games, it seems the squad is not fit. Again, on the manager. These are not imperceptible issues that one can’t quite put one’s finger on. They are very real and present problems. Hughes doesn’t know his best players, cannot organise a defence, cannot get them fit and does not instil them with the mental strength needed to win games of football. This is not a case of a bit of luck needed to turn our season round. These are fundamentals. Quite... the only explanation is embarassment; they're worried about loss of face in sacking him so soon after giving him 3yr contract, and hoped we'd nick a couple of points here and there while they got the DoF in so they could leave them to appoint a new manager; unfortunately the Fulham debacle has moved events ahead of their "plans".

Get him gone. The only reason to keep him would be because we have not hired a DOF yet. No DOF is going to come in and insist that Hughes keeps his job so they may as well get rid now. Put a caretaker in charge for the next couple of games and focus in the meantime on hiring.
It's quite notable that we do play quite well for the most part, we just don't do any of the important bits, like score or keep clean sheets. This to me shows we have the players, but the manager is not right.

So what is Hughes' user name on here then? Clue: he’s the only one to vote to keep him for the whole season.

Hughes' mouth looks like he went to the salon for some anal bleaching and the beautician mistook his face for his arse.*

Fairly conclusive poll then, apart from one Skate in disguise, everyone who voted wanted him gone by Christmas and just short of 90% want him gone immediately.

Fairly conclusive poll then, apart from one Skate in disguise, everyone who voted wanted him gone by Christmas and just short of 90% want him gone immediately. I'm all for replacing Hughes if we can find someone better but fear all those pleading for an immediate sacking might be regretting that if it does happen. We have been utterly shite for the past 3 seasons despite sacking managers left right and centre. Maybe the problem with the club might not be the managers? Since Koeman left our player recruitment has been ridiculously poor, it's not just that we consistently sold our best players but we have spent well over £100m on replacements who haven't done a thing. Boufal, Gabbiadini, Hoedt, Vestergaard, Elyounoussi, Carrillo, Lemina, Bedarnek, the list goes on and on. At the end of the day any manager is going to struggle with a sub-standard squad and Hughes' biggest issue is that he doesn't have 2 decent PL level CBs to pair together and the ones we do have seem guaranteed to give away at least one goal every game with a glaring error. You just can't win football matches like that. We need to appoint a DoF who can put some form of order into the club and locate a manager who can do better than Hughes and then also plug the alarming gaps in our squad in January. It's laughable that anyone can seriously think that sacking Hughes and his experienced PL assistants and replacing them with Kelvin Davis and Jaidi would be anything less than a disaster.

Im not sure I get the logic. If you want him gone by Christmas, why wait? Be kind to him. Let him plan for a family Christmas.

Im not sure I get the logic. If you want him gone by Christmas, why wait? Be kind to him. Let him plan for a family Christmas. It's an interesting point. The only reason for a man in his financial position to want the job must be because he bloody loves being a football manager. Yet I have never once got that impression from him, not just at Saints. The only possible alternative is that he hates his family.
