Is nearly here…..
Read the book a few years ago, confused the hell out of me but thought it was amazing. Turns out, so did the makers of Game of Thrones.
Google the trailer, holy shit it looks good

Google the trailer, holy shit it looks good Ooh, heard it was nigh. As it happens (bought before I heard of the telly show) I'm reading the book currently, it's definitely intriguing so will certainly check out the show once I've finished the book. The other exciting one slightly further down the road will be Apple's attempt to bring Neuromancer to the screen... I've resisted getting Appletv so far, but will definitely break my resolve for that.

I watched the first two episodes last night and it is truly epic. I am well and truly hooked. I have felt like this about other series, only to be disappointed when they seem to lose their way pretty quickly, so I look forward to discovering if this particular series is a cut above.

I'm in the Sir B3na1i camp re Science Fiction - Star Wars, Star Trek, the Alien franchise I'll do but even Back to the Future and ET left me cold. If Benny goes for it I might have a look.

Oh, it is somewhat more than a cut above Star Wars, Star Trek and the others of their ilk. Ignoring the Sci-Fi element, if I had to equate it to something, it would probably be Wallender, Slow Horses, or even Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy in its complexity, many-layered story threads and sheer "What the hell is going on now?". At the end of the day, it is science fiction, but bracketing it with Back to the Future and ET is a bit of an insult, to be honest. It is just a very well-crafted story arc over multiple episodes, which I love. I watched the third episode this evening, and Mark Gatiss and Steve Pemberton made a guest appearance. Now that elevates the credibility to whole new heights! Have a read of this review in The Independent today. It explains it far better than I could

I do like ET, first film I saw in the cinema and BTTF. Although they're both Sci Fi I think of them more as stories about relationships. Alien I think of as Horror, and I'm a huge horror fan, but I Don't overly go for Alien to be honest

John Hurt was one of the few actors I'd heard of and killing him off early doors was such a shock that the rest of it barely scared me. Never watched it again after seeing in at the cinema though.

Agree it was a good one watch film. I did watch it again a few years ago but couldn't get into it with all the tension gone

I prefer Aliens to Alien.

Alien was groundbreaking, but of all of them, I preferred Prometheus; even though it was the least successful, the storyline was more gripping, and there was a suggestion of answers to several of the questions posed in the earlier Alien films, although it was technically a prequel.

I am now up to episode 6 of 3 Body Problem, which continues to delight and challenge me. One moment that endeared itself to me was in a scene set somewhere on the Eastern edge of the South Coast of England when one of the characters says to an American that they should go down the road as there is a shop that sells proper Cornish Pasties. He replies, 'Great, I love pasties!'. Top script-writing.
