Do you all really want me to do this next week? There’s nothing sophisticated on my list. YES! I still remember your mix CDs which got me into some bands I still listen to today - Bad Religion, Farside, Hot Water Music - probably the more MOR punk but still

Not quite my style (but you knew that). I can see how if you like this kind of musci, you could appreciate the band. I think I may be closer to your lane again tomorrow and Thursday before a change of pace again on Friday. PS - I still need your tips for Nashville if you have any (see thread from a few days ago) I missed this thread. Where was it?

Day 2 of my selections This next band is one I'd heard a bit of hype about before seeing them live. One of my colleagues at work had seen them at Download festival in the summer last year and was raving about them. But here's the name drop, when I was at school I briefly tried to be in a band with Daniel Pugsley who is now in Skindred. He was head and shoulders above us for talent, but we've stayed in touch, when I told him we were seeing him twice on his tour last year in Brighton and Southampton he said we had to see Black Gold who were supporting. So we made sure we did. So here's On Another Level by Black Gold. I guess they're best described as new Nu Metal, big guitars, hip hop front man, dance beats underpinning them. I don't expect them to pick up many fans here, but I love them so give them a listen. Not my bag, but it got my blood pumping! Exactly what I wanted though - stuff I hadn’t heard before

This is another cover and anyone of a certain age (i.e. pretty much all of us) will remember the original version. I didn’t particularly like it at the time, but it’s much, much better with real instruments… This will be the first dance at 299 and my civil partnership (although she doesn’t know that yet..! 😜) Not sure if this will quite cut it with any of you, but it gets my blood pumping. Happy Easter, all and COYS!!! Spent all my indoor waking hours listening to Classic FM's Hall of Fame or watching TV so just played this now. At one time Disco was my thang so I loved the original but, as no vegetable isn't improved by salt, no music isn't improved by a brass section. Great work Sir! I suspect this will run and run and I'm already thinking about my next 5 tunes before exhibiting my first lot.

This thread was a completely selfish idea designed to find new music. I knew I could depend on you lot from some of the excellent TV suggestions. Last week was fun, but now I can reap the benefits. This is a great way to kick off your week, Sir B3na1i . Reminds me of Kings of Leon a bit (might be a lazy comparison though). Love the theme for the week too - you’ve got me thinking about the support acts I’ve seen… Me too. I saw a brilliant support act from Canada who will appeal to loads of you guys. It was ages back and currently I can't even remember their name. But I will. And in my 3rd or 4th tranche of choons I'll share them with my pals!

Do you all really want me to do this next week? There’s nothing sophisticated on my list. FFS yes! I doubt I'll be listening to much more Black Gold but Benny asked us to listen and I did. Not my thing but I've listened to something different.

I haven't liked many of the suggestions so far, but that's cool, I didn't expect to. I like that people are into different music and I think this thread is a great idea. I have been doing a fanzine for 40 years because I love sharing the music that moves me.

Day 3 already
Today's choice is the haunting melancholy of Prinz Grizzley. I saw Prinz Grizzley supporting Seasick Steve in November 2018 at Southampton Guildhall. As soon as I got home I downloaded an album.
Prinz Grizzley always comes into rotation around this time of year, sitting at the end of the garden with a single malt and looking at the sky. I love his voice and the sound that underpins it. And, I love how the song builds, then gets pulled back before building again. This is Irene.

It's the penultimate day of my selections and today is my first female artist. Over recent years I've got more interested in country music. My wife is a big fan of acts like Zac Brown Band, The Chicks, Luke Bryan etc... and this has rubbed off on me. Last year we went to the Country 2 Country festival at the O2 and it was one of the best live music events I've been to.
In January this year Ashley Mcbryde came to Southampton. She had two support acts Corey Kent who's had a bit of chart success and one of his songs has even made an impact on the mainstream radio. The other support act was a young lady called Harper O'Neill. It was just her and her acoustic guitar and she held the audience captivated for 35 minutes with her powerful soulful voice. My goddaughter is a singer songwriter (first single out next week - don't worry I will be sharing on IBO and expecting you all to download/stream) and so I have a soft spot for talented youngsters who command a stage with just a guitar and their voice.
Here's Guilty
(I should also say this video is awful so maybe just listen)
