Following on from.the LA thread. We're off to Nashville next month. Got the Grand Old Opry booked one evening, Tim McGraw at the Bridgestone another evening and were doing a trip to Memphis to see Graceland. Most of what we've booked is evenings what's good to do.in the daytime there

Broadway, that used to be the music heart of Nashille, has become a nightmare. Sadly, Nashville has become the brat party capital of the USA so you get these pedal beer carts rolling around playing lound music that is anything but country. If you're interested in Country Music, the country music hall of fame and museum is always a good visit. It's close to the Bridgestone. There are outside trips to Studio A (or maybe C), where Elvis and co. recorded. The piano from iconic pic of Elvis is there. There's nothing left on Music Row.
Best venues for live music are the Station Inn - only Bluegrass and listening bar that does beer and pizza. It's my fouvourite venue in the whole world. It's this seedy dive surrounded by sky scrapers and they refuse to sell up to the corporations so they're still there, even though the owner died during Covid (of Covid) and his trustees are keeping it going. Dee's country cocktail lounge - the hottest music bar in town right now. It's a noisy bar with pool table and the acts that play there are awesome. Here's a clip I filmed of Kyle Tuttle band (he's the banjo player with Molly Tuttle right now). The Ryman Auditorium, where the Grand Ole Opry was until it moved out to its new place, where you are going, is a fantastic theatre for live music. Billy String played there recently. 3rd and Lindsey (or Lindley, I don't remember) has great music every night, honky tonk, swing, straight up good country, Bluegrass. You may need to reserve depending on the act.
Otherwise in the day, you can go out to Franklin and visit the Carter House. It was the scene of one of the big last battles in the Civil War. The son of the house had gone off a couple of years before and found himself back there at the battle, got wounded and was carried into his childhood home to die. The Bluegrass Museum at Owensboro is very good. They have a Jerry Garcia exibition that just started, tracing his relationship with Bluegrass (which was very strong). It's a 2-hour drive and you can stop off and visit the childhood home of Bill Monroe (the father of Bluegrass). Owensboro is a pretty little town on the Ohio river with Ohio across the bridge. There's not much else to do there.
Sorry all very Bluegrass related, but when I go to Nashville, it's what I do. To get the real vibe of the new Nashville and the hottest young musicians in town at this time, Dee's is my favourite hang. You're sure to see some great pickers there playing just for tips. If you just want to sample a good vibe of an evening that's the place to go. They also have earlier shows at 6. It's in East Nashville, which is where all the cool pickers live now. A quick uber ride.

Thanks Mandochris for the clip of the Kyle Tuttle Band, I really liked that a lot. Glad you like it. He's a very cool dude and that's his gf, Lindsay Lou who is also a great musician and singer. And Julian Pinelli on fiddle who plays with Peter Rowan these days. There's definitely a Little Feat Vibe that The Beast might like in this small dose 😉
