Happy Easter Egg Hunters Given we won't be getting much top flight football anytime soon I'm watching some this weekend. Today: Newcastle v West Ham and Der Klassiker (aka The Battle for European Places). Easter: Nice v Nantes and City v Arse. Monday: Back to the grindstone - Ipswich v SFC. Bloody Tesco are shut tomorrow so I'll have to shop during the 3pm black out today or be eating stale bread come Monday. Those bastards! Just went to have one of the mini chocolate eggs Mike's nippers gave me yesterday and found the empty bag. I must have scoffed the lot watching Hobson's Choice last night. Thanks for the heads up baconleetravis . Fabulous film - just as good as my mate told me it was. Followed that with Beyond Paradise and The Last Leg and slept like a log. Will have to take more care with the carbs today.

Afternoon
Nice day here and taking it easy after my manic month (I will have to work tomorrow or Mon though). I took the Mrs down to her event working at the (plastic) duck racing for autism and also got a shop in... as the shop is closed tomorrow I got 2 big bags of mussels for 4.50 and 2 ox cheeks for 6.00, bargain! So it'll be moules marinere for dinner tonight and some manner of beefy pie tomorrow.
Think I'll go for a walk in the sun now before I have to collect the Mrs.
No football for me til Monday, I'm sick of it.
On the egg front, I was given a big quality street egg for my birthday so that'll do us. Partly thanks to Yates' recommendation we watched the entertainingly daft Roadhouse last night and I think it must've been watching that that made me think I could open the egg by headbutting it... those eggs are harder than you think, it was quite painful and the egg withstood the blow!

Afternoon. I was given a £40 voucher for Cafe Thrive this morning, and we have already spent it. We followed that by wandering round one of the parks in town with the dog. Not a bad way to spend a birthday.

Just finished breakfast. All this inconvenience for longer evenings FFS! At least the Church is getting radical. After whatever voodoo they've used to fix Easter in the Calendar till now, they are considering making it the 3rd Sunday in April with all the surrounding festivals adjusted accordingly. Would make term times and holiday planning (us old bastards need to avoid school holidays at all costs) so much simpler. My soccer choices for Saturday (Barcodes 4 Hamsters 3 and Bayern 0 Dortmund 2) were terrific. Newcastle reprised the sort of football they played when Our Kev was in charge and Dortmund did a silent assassin's job in Munich. Harry missed some chances and when he did score on 89m VAR ruled it offside by a gnat's whisker. My fascination with the Bundesliga is enhanced by matches like this. Dortmund hadn't won here in a decade and last won a "Klassiker" in the 2019 Supercup. Yet they stood toe to toe with a wounded Bayern and came out smiling. The coaches in Germany are very flexible. They have their preferred playing styles but readily adapt tactics and formation to suit both opponents and current score. It is like watching a top golfer continually selecting the right club for the right outcome. Sometimes you watch a side play twice in a short period yet, personnel aside, you could be watching two different teams. Dortmund showed some front to take it to Bayern on their own patch, survive everything thrown at them and then profit from deploying pace and getting defenders involved in the other box. By the way jickster and I were writing off 35yo Mats Hummels earlier this season. He was magnificent yesterday. Man of the Match and the rock on which Bayern dreams floundered. He is a shoe in for Germany in the Summer!
