I will bite on this 😄
For me with the squad he has had, he has to get us at least to the play off final

We are now in a no win situation. If we don’t go up, lose our best players and have to start all over again. If we do go up, watch them play RM’s pretty but massively flawed style to win some neutral fans but get spanked back to the Champ.
I just can’t warm to him and fed up of the inevitability of results now. Teams have worked us out. Yet RM seems incapable of learning / evolving his own game and tactics. In fact he often makes it easier for them with inexplicable changes to the teams - either with selection, subs or tactics. Teams know they can afford to give away a goal or two and still have a chance of a result. That is not a good place to be in.
Also fed up of the repeated drone about how good we look going forward. Yes, it LOOKS good but we aren’t scoring. It also shouldn’t hide how abysmal we are at defending. Maybe work on that as much as anything else?!
RM is showing what he is. A mid table Championship manager.
So well done Saints, have taken yet another failed gamble when we should have been really pushing and preparing for promotion.
Still, he will clap the fans and do his fruity little fist pumps when we get a win. Yay.

Made this very point while watching yesterday, even when we were 2-1 up. If we did manage to fluke our way up through the play offs PL teams will destroy us, they'll pick off loose passes and wont be as wasteful as Ipswich etc... So we're 2 or 3 down every game and we already know our main goal threats this season don't score goals in the PL (And one of them is off anyway - thankfully, good luck to Wolves!)

Promotion would avoid administration though.

Still, he will clap the fans and do his fruity little fist pumps when we get a win. Yay. Great post Sir. I like Russ. He is a nice, principled guy and should he get to manage Bayern, Inter, Barca or Manchester City his sides would be a delight to watch. Sadly, in a results oriented business, that day will never arrive. I wrote about Bundesliga coaches the other day. Nearly said German coaches but not all of them are German. I admire the tactical nous these guys display both between and during games. Given they cannot keep their best players (who end up over here) the quality of German competitions is the most exciting to watch. Relatively few games are one-sided and even Bayer Leverkusen's ridiculous unbeaten record relies on many late goals to garner extra points. I compared their coaches to top golfers with excellent assessment skills and the ability to choose the right club and right shot time after time. No one remarked on the implication hidden there so I will spell it out. Russ (lovely bloke) is the golfer who has perfected his swing and accuracy using a 5 iron. He is the tops with that. So when he takes his 5 iron to St Andrew's Old Course and plays the one club in his bag for every stroke he is disappointed to score 149. FFS man! Get a Plan B ( and C, D, E, F etc.) or piss off somewhere else and let someone else get our club moving forward again. We were poor last year but the best we can expect this season is 4 places below that shitty finish. Up the Saints!

I enjoyed a lot of the game last night, but ended up disappointed. I have spent a lot of the last 50 years being disappointed by Saints one way or another. But here we are, still watching and still getting disappointed. Whatever division we’re in next season I’m sure the disappointments will keep coming, along with the odd highlight, but we’ll still be here.

I like him and hope he's given time. I've actually enjoyed a lot of the football this year for the first time in a long time. He's also improved a lot of the players.

Some minor improvements in Edozie and Armstrong is scoring goals but both easily explainable by the fact we are playing in the league below the one we purchased both players for.

Some minor improvements in Edozie and Armstrong is scoring goals but both easily explainable by the fact we are playing in the league below the one we purchased both players for. Maybe it’s a bit of both? I don’t really rate his man management as he seems to punish some people for mistakes but not others. I think Bednarek has improved this season. I know he’s playing at a lower level but he’s better on the ball than he used to be. I don’t know if that’s because he’s playing against Championship strikers, if he’s been forced to improve to cope with a new way of playing or whether RM’s coaching has given him extra impetus. AA is a funny player. Sometimes he’s very wasteful and will blast over the bar or straight at a defender when he should have passed and other times he finishes as well as he’s done in the past couple of matches. He’s also created a lot of goals this season but probably failed to create many others! Che Adams is very hit and miss too. The same goes for Mara. The CNM could have made all the difference but who knows if and when we’ll see him again in a Saints shirt. We have a few players who are far too good for this level, like THB, KWP, Downes and Brooks. It’s just a shame that most of them are on loan and none of them are centre forwards. RM hasn’t managed to get a tune out of Sulemana but I suspect that bloke is uncoachable. He also dismissed Tall Paul early on when we could really have done with an extra option up front. TP might be clumsy and gangly but so is Kieffer Moore and he’s been doing a job for Ipswich. That all points to a lack of a plan B.

Three games ago he was giving it Billy big bollox about there being 30 points to play for. Well we've managed 2 from 9 so far. At that rate we might get 7 from 30 ffs

At that rate we might get 7 from 30 ffs We should be on 80 bloody points and be just 4 behind Ipswich with two games in hand. He's blown it, we could have been right back in it. I like Stephens, it isn't his fault but his insistence on shoe-horning him into the team, added to completely avoiding the 11 that kept starting our winning run is unreal. Play Edozie from the start, bring on Fraser, voila.....Windy day in the North West, put Adams on the bench and play a false 9, seriously........
