The result had nothing to do with the keeper. I could have played in goal last night. Odd that AM didn't get hammered by everyone for dallying on the ball in the way GB would have been. Quite.. we got lucky that he didn't really have much to do. I have little confidence that if he'd been put under any significant pressure he'd have done significantly better than the Irish Mist. We may get away with it being the draining pot v Cardiff and Stoke, but I fear for the outcome v Leicester and Leeds if he plays and is required to play with the ball at his feet. That's not to say that AbFab will do much better, just that he's given me less reason to fear his inclusion (apart from that dreadful FK v liverpool). Entertaining as it might be to think Baz's exclusion may save us some goals against, I'm not sure we have reliable alternatives.

It is Season ending - Apparently Baz will not be back this season. Far more than that. It's a torn achilles so it will be 10 months to a year out. A really bad injury. Worse than an ACL tear. We'll be looking for a new keeper in the Summer. How did he manage to do that?

It’s weird that fate is a better manager than Russell Martin.

It’s weird that fate is a better manager than Russell Martin. Think about the bloke's career. Just as Kelleher gets back on Liverpool's bench Baz rules himself out of football for a year! By the time he plays again the Eire #1 jersey will be nowhere in sight. Shit luck!

How did he manage to do that? Jogging. It's one of those things that can just happen for no real reason. I've heard a few sportsmen say they literally think they've been shot in the ankle by a sniper when it happens.

And Kelleher is about as likely to play as many club fixtures as Bazunu in the rest of the calendar year and I don't think Eire is over-run with great keepers.

Happened to a mate of mine playing 5 a side at goals recently. Just running for a ball, no one challenged him and it went pop. Sounded like something had hit the barriers on the side of the pitch. He of course isn't am athele though and is 40 years old. He's been in a boot and on crutches for weeks and is doing physiotherapy

So the teams above us are faltering, our Achilles’ heel has done his achilles heel and our grumpy Gallic goal getter has got himself banned for 3 games?
It just feels that things are starting to come together at the right time.
We mustn’t let it slip against Cardiff.

The trouble is that McColander is also terrible (in his own different way!)
Other than Shilts, Niemi and Flowers we have really done a terrible job of keepers in the last 40 years.

Could we bring in a loan keeper for the rest of the season?

I think Kelv was good for the level we were at. Also Forster was excellent until injury. But on the whole it hasn't been great.

Kelv was ok in the lower leagues but poor in the PL and yep, FF did have the one good season for us. Funnily enough I think the best we have had of late was the bloke FF was stupidly brought in to replace, Boruc. We dragged him off the unemployment line after he had flounced off from Celtic and in the first few weeks he was massively overweight. I remember going to a game against Spurs with a NLY supporting mate and he was in hysterics looking at Boruc trying to move in pre-match warmups, but f'k me when he got fit he was very good indeed. And as mad as a box of frogs which is what you expect from a keeper.
