It’s rubbish. I liked replays, the small clubs and their players got the chance to play at big stadiums and make a bit of money.

Bag of Shite as Paul Calf would have said.
The serial self-abusers at the Prem would have worked out that the offer of £33m or so to wreck the competition (AKA investing in grass-roots football) will benefit the premiership. And crap all over those below.
The FA really are not fit for purpose if they think this will help small clubs or the so-called grass roots. The idea that they are custodians of the former greatest domestic cup comp competition in the world is now an utter, total bad joke. Anything they do airways seems to be to the benefit whoever is the biggest or richest, even at league 2 now.
Pretty pissed off here.

If the top clubs are worried about playing too many games, they should delcare forfeit for the domestic cups if they play in Europe. If they don't want to declare forfeit then they should accept the rules knowingly.

If they don't want to declare forfeit then they should accept the rules knowingly. The same clubs who will jet off to play games in the Middle East, US or Australia whenever there's a break in the league calendar. They could also leave the League Cup to the Football League teams.

It's not just the big clubs though. It's also everyone who's said we should put out a weakened team in the cup or who couldn't be bothered to watch their team play a bunch of cloggers from the lower leagues. We have all devalued the cup because we all know club's have to chase the money if they want to compete. It's sad, but that's where the game is. Maybe we should kick the teams in Europe out of the FA or League cup and then we could have a decent competition (If we do this, I'm sure Uefa will be pissed off at fans for watching their team rather than worshipping the continent's big brands/clubs).

There's a rationality in scrapping the replays as we have the craziness of large leagues (20 or 24 teams), and 2 cup competitions.
As everyone has mentioned the decision cannot be taken by the powerful with no consultation of the majority of stakeholders. But, the other stick in my craw is there's not even an attempt to financially compensate lower league clubs. Giving the lower league side 100% of the gate receipts if they earn a draw but lose in a penalty shoot-out would be something, but even that wouldnt make up for income from TV rights for a replay.
This has clearly been snuck in deliberately before an independent football regulator is in play. Should be a mass FA cup boycott next season but hard to imagine how that happens as would a boycott start in the 3rd round or when tier 8 or 9 are playing in the qualifying rounds?
