It’s 1230 Friday and I guess no thread yet reflects our collective apathy!!
The line up will be interesting given RMs comments about only picking the players he thinks will show some fight - who was that aimed at I wonder?
Let’s see what colours he pins to that mast!
Lumley
KWP Bednarek THB Stephens
Brooks THB? Aribo
AA Adams Fraser

I’d like to see Brooks dropped deeper into midfield, as you suggest.
Otherwise, I really don’t care…

Apathy is not quite the right word in my case. Simmering hostility is a better description.
Usually, by this stage of the week, I am generally looking forward to Saturday, but not this week. It will be the last league game I will see sat in the seat I have had since we moved to St.Mary's in 2003, but no more, thanks to SR and the vociferous minority in the fanbase. I am not sure that I will renew my season ticket without some sort of incentive. Increasing the cost is not the way to placate me. I don't even care what league we will be in next season.

WTF?
He's dropped Adams, who was one of the few who looked like they gave a shit on Tue , and put in feckless Mara

I don't envisage Mara proving anybody wrong, what a total waste of a shirt he is. As much use as a chocolate fireguard imo.

He is like playing with 10 men. He is not even running or pressing. Hopefully will come of at half time

We shouldn't have bothered with a fred, the players couldn't be bothered to get out of bed. Terrible going into the playoffs off the back of 4 defeats in a row.

Dismal. Our end of season has some parallels with performances from the beginning of the season.
To my eyes, Stoke had 4 clear-cut chances: scored from the hardest one of them, missed a sitter, and McCarthy saved two well. We had so little in ideas in attack and looked weak in midfield generally. 0-1 actually flattered us such was the difference in the chances the two teams made.
Rarely you hear of a manager calling the players to a meeting to air their thoughts on what the hell is going on. Kind of feels to me that it's that desperate. Manager keeps mentioning a reaction but we ain't seeing one. Supposedly those who wanted it played today but didn't see the signs of that. Just seems like lots of players out of form, and everyone's a bit hungover / burnt out from how the season has gone, and probably the ridiculously high number of games we have had that have been frantic. Worse still, I think the manager has lost a sense of who the starting eleven should be. For the playoff semi its Downes and Che and THB and god knows who else.
Observations: - keep McCarthy in - Fraser is so much better when Manning plays behind him and there is overlap-ability. Not sure what Bree is offering at this point. - I can kind of see why Shea is not thriving under Russ. Doesn't have the speed of thought and body movement to turn defence into attack when intercepting or receiving the ball at the start of a transition. He's more of a simple defensive anchor, whereas Downes can turn and hit a forward pass or use a burst of pace to break free on the turn from someone pressing him. I don't think Shea is the player we need under this manager except as a specialist substitute at 1-0. - Mara, no. Not enough pace or power or influence or work rate or shooting ability or consistency. None of it. - Brooks is the best fit AMC we have, but have we seen him do more than 20 minutes in matches? He just gets subdued. - Edozie was poor first half, but fair play probably best player in 2nd half. Still, not enough pace or power or control of final pass to be much of a threat, and his trademark move - to bamboozle his way to the goalline, round the defender and then look for a dink cross or a cutback is not going to unpick a well organised defence.

God that was awful. Wembley? You are having a laugh! Quite. There is no way we are getting to a playoff final on current squad-wide loss of form.
