Down in Cornwall and grabbing 5 minutes to do some Admin work (welcome bombay, scoobs & eusabio).
I would just like to say I was going to go and talk to Nick on Saturday about this bastard sibling of TUI, but unfortunately dad had other ideas.
We are only 21 strong at the moment, but I don't want to be seen as undermining Nick. So, can I just request that as we are ALL from TUI and most of us seem to post on both boards, that we not flaunt this place in the face of anyone on TUI.
I have come to the conclusion that there is room for both of us, the pub that is TUI and the coffee shop/tea room that is IBO.
Any feedback on my thoughts are welcome!

Agree. I do not post on TUI at the moment. Best wishes to you and yours, Channers.

I had decided to leave the Ugly and the Bury board gave me hope. I gave the Ugly another try but found that it has lost it's appeal for me. I like it here so don't feel the need to talk about the Ugly on here, I have deliberately avoided talking about it until now. I think it's fair to respect Nick and keep this forum completely seperate, although I feel Nick has set the negative tone over there.

This isn't The Ugly lite, this is another board for Saints fans to talk rubbish (just not offensive rubbish).
I have decided that the Ugly isn't for me any more, but I have nothing against Nick at all and I don't think we need to think of this board as some sort of protest against the Ugly, there is certainly room for both.
I like it here.

I'm using both at the moment, but if all the characters I like from over there end up here, I think I'll use TUI less and less... Got a bit confused yesterday as to which board I was using

I still venture back to the Ugly, partly cos of the news stories; but I don't feel as much impetus to post - it's very quiet there since I put the Romsey massive on ignore, so I guess they're still dominating it.
I prefer to think of this as a nice safe english kennels, whereas TUI is a continental kennels where, while the facilities are good and most of the dogs are pleasant, some of the dogs have rabies.

I shan't be posting on either after today as I'm away in the wilds of Co Durham all next week. Will take the laptop but can't imagine I'll be able to get online. (I'll be doing some preparation for our next holiday [in June] when we'll be visiting locations where our forebears lived and worked and hunting for them in archives and churchyards. Failing to plan = planning to fail, etc).
The Ugly has gone downhill (despite my fabulous articles) since the Darkside rejects moved in. I'm increasingly intolerant of stupidity. Perhaps it is an age thing. I was definitely a coont when I was younger but having been there and done that I now prefer a more enlightened, more comfortable forum to debate matters loosely relating to SFC et al. That is what I perceive this place to be.
I'm not going to desert TUI but unless things change I'll be spending more time here than there.

I'm still using the UI at the moment but it's a bit quiet.

I've found TUI* has been getting progressively more charmless and depressing and I just can't be arsed anymore.
*Now the ITV2 of SFC boards

I still pop in the Ugly for a pint but IBO has more comfy chairs and better company...

Visitors used to complain that the old Ugly was cliquey and it did take a while for new members to be accepted but the cliqueyness ensured that any undesirables soon got bored and got lost. Maybe we became too welcoming and tolerant of those who belonged on another board.
I think I'll use both boards unless it gets to the stage where the Ugly dies a death. However, I wouldn't like to lose any of the good Uglies as although a lot of regulars have been invited a lot more, less frequent posters are in danger of being lost. We need to extend the invitation to people like saint aggers but I don't want to invite anyone who gets on anyone else's nerves or this board will suffer further down the line!

I agree with all the sentiments above.
I liked popping into TUI during the day, often spraying my drink over the screen/keyboard trying to supress achortle at some of the threads. But over the past 12 months or so I've lost more and more interest as more and more refugees try taking over.
I may not post a great deal on either board, but did/do like banter and the fact that we do not take things TOO seriously (unlike other boards).
I'll pop my head into TUI as often as I can, but feel uncomfortable in the Public Bar... Much prefer the Lounge Bar these days.

A lot of the former UI posters seem to have stopped posting there and don't seem to post here either. It took a while to recover from the ill feeling that Bliss brought to the board; in the case of Stu maybe it will never recover because he will never leave.

It looks like Nick has finally realised that he's heading towards a forum staffed by SNS and his cronies judging by his reply to your thread this evening DD. It's a great pity that he doesn't realise that some of us (well me anyway) don't want to be associated with a forum with endless threads about 'yoof' and 'smashing'. I'm afraid if they are tongue in cheek I don't get the joke. Indeed... I went on yesterday without logging on, and all the input from SN's "crew" was really quite unpleasant; I'm not easily offended, but it was just boorish nastiness. I was thinking about maintaining a dual existence, but I can't see it if it's like that there now.
