He may have missed out on the player of the month award, but me and fans of Rochdale and Bristol Rovers pay tribute to the great man here:- wp.me/p1mFFL-bA

Good article, as usual.
Yep, money very well spent.
I suspect Lambert would tell you that Saints have been as good for him as he has for the Saints as well. The most important part of that of his development is, as you quite rightly observe, that his all-round game is now so strong. That causes defences even more problems than if he were to just be an out and out striker.

Rickie and Saints are the perfect example of how club and player have grown together in one symbiotic union, and each is as appreciative of the other in what they have achieved together. Well done Saints, well done Rickie. Oh and well done Nige and well done Niccy.

Super Rickie Lambert is our new LeGod. He is so much more than a goalscorer and typifies all that is good about our club right now.

When Lambert first came to us and for the first season I had concerns.
He seemed to lack the ability to have two feet off the ground when heading a ball.
His movement was sluggish and fitness seemed a big problem. Most of his goals coming from free kicks and penalties (nothing wrong with that).
Now since he has worked with Adkins his fitness level has improved dramatically. He moves around the pitch for most of the game getting himself in good positions. His full all round game has improved to such a level that it is hard to compare him with the player he was when he first arrived.
I also believe that Adkins has got good back up staff suppporting him so this is a plus.
I really doubt that were we in the market for RL now, we would be looking in excess of £5M for him.

SRL just grows and grows in stature. As saint paddy says he looked very static to begin with, even though he was scoring loads of goals. His holdup play and general work rate now is just fantastic. From worrying about his technique, I have moved on to worrying about what the feck Saints do if he gets injured ...
