I've gone off snow as the novelty factor has worn off. I don't want any this winter thanks.

I predict much disappointment this winter then.
Long range forecast suggests UK will have another hard winter and temperatures down to -20C have been predicted. I'm fairly confident that will happen in the Cairngorms (it usually does) but I'd be a bit miffed if it happens on the IOW....

A winter with no money, no footer, no holiday to get away from the Christmas inanity, topped off with a visit to the inlaws for Christmas itself and sprinklings of snow to boot. Kill me now.

where I work, we pay for weather predictions (such as they are) because it seriously affects the services we can provide and we need to forward plan, sometimes years in advance, to make sure we can manage.
Anyway, just to brighten everyone's day, we have been told in no uncertain terms that winters like the last two will be pretty normal for the next 3-5 years if not longer.
Make no bones about it, there will be snow every winter in the South and although I'm not sure it's going to get to the island, London and dear old Hampshire will definitely be affected reasonably significantly around Christmas and New Year period if not at other times as well.
Sorry

Conversely, I wouldn't be quite as fussed if we don't make it to Gatwick that day.

Also, although we pay them quite a lot of money for this advice, it could be complete horse pucky? (Although the global trends seem to indicate this isn't the case generally I'm afraid) Two years ago it hit well after Christmas so you might be okay? alternatively, do you ski?

No, but there are four tennis rackets in the house.
