I do… I used to be a fan of the concept of their club if nothing else but now they just remind me of Manchester United

How? They've got a significantly better youth policy which produces a huge volume of first team talent, they play proper football and won't be compromised by anyone else's ideas of how it should be played etc. etc.
Yes, they've made the odd BIG signing and the way that they go into the press and stir the shit with regards to potential signings is a bit much (but no different to ANY other side) but generally they are a club that sets a standard to aspire to in almost every sense.
And I'm a Deportivo La Coruna fan!

We live in a capitalist society, and the football industry is hyper-capitalist. It is almost impossible for a club to thrive unless they embrace at least in part. Even St. Pauli have had to get with the programme. I don't like it any more than anyone else.
Morally Barca are still infinitely superior to United in my book, and in pure football terms they are superior to anything, ever.

okay, I'll explain my thinking, their youth policy basically scours the world for exceptional talent, not in itself a thing that doesn't happen elsewhere but it does mean that of course they will have good players coming through.
This current generation is exceptionally talented and they were as lucky as Manchester United were in the 90s with the group of players that came through altogether, it remains to be seen how this will be continued when their midfield falters or Messi is unavailable regularly?
Their success has, to a large degree, been financed by money they do not have (you still need huge sums to pay the wages they pay), they are massively in debt and despite being "owned" by the fans (which is a wonderful concept but actually means nothing in the way they actually put the concept into practice), they are living way beyond their means (even though they are one of the biggest marketing clubs in the world).
And, as regards signings, yes they do and they also increase the pressure on everyone else by hoovering the market to ensure competition is minimised.
Saying all that, watching them sometimes is very good but referees and officials all over the world seem to take as little notice of their style of play as they do of Manchester United's, in other words they can do no wrong. Every tackle on one of their players is a foul and every foul they commit is a fair tackle.
sometimes it's just boring watching them, strange as that may sound it's still true.

If you think that any other club (including us) doesn't scour the world for exceptional talent then you are mistaken. The facts remain that Barca have an incredible array of local talent as well as a few that they've brought in, simply because the local kids aspire to play for them. I could give you a seriously long lecture on how the Brazilian clubs search for talent and take it off the streets if you like.
Erm, it's not just this generation though is it. Guardiola was part of the Figo team/generation that was then followed by the Xavi/Puyol era and since then the Iniesta/Messi/Pique group. And there's plenty more where they came from.
Yep, agree about the "financed by debt" thing and have suggested many times that if Platini is serious about regulating the financial affairs of football clubs then it's going to cripple many, many more teams than just the English. AC Milan, Inter, Lyon, Marseille, Barca, Real Madrid etc. etc. are all just as fragile financially. Basically it's only the German league that would remain standing in remotely the same state.
Again, any worse than Chelski, Man City, Manure, Real etc. etc. Definitely not.
Yep, agree with that but would also suggest that if you watch most of them are fouls, drawn by players who are technically better than most so generate those sorts of challenges. Would definitely agree that they get the benefit of the doubt when they've committed the challenges though!!!
Yes, really fecking strange! It's football at it's best, what we need is individuals and teams that can compete with them!

Sadly the the England team of the nex few years will be built not around Wilshire, Walcott, McEachran and Adam Johnson (or even Lallana), but Andy bloody Carroll. I never get bored watching Barca, but to be fair we are generally just different to Spanish fans in this country. So many English fans get antsy when their team is passing it around at the back and want to see it launched forward at the earliest opportunity. This is one of our biggest problems- a lack of patience is institutionalised.

Time for a European league....games on Sundays.
All country leagues played on Saturdays. Mid week for cup games.
European footy is a mess and needs tidying

it's got nothing to do with patience or lack of it, I used to watch Italian football before it was lost to the free viewers of the world and believe me, that can be spectacularly "tactical"!
Sometimes, although not all the time, lack of effective competition is really the problem, I don't disagree that they are massively superior to most teams they play, I just find it dull that they are…
