What an performance. Salah is the best player in Europe atm. They make football look like a fun game.

Ugh, I fecking hate Liverpool. I don't care what anybody says, it's depressing to see them do well with a core of our former players while we sink faster than the Titanic.

The way they buckled under pressure late on suggests to me that the tie is far from over. Those 2 away goals might end up making the difference

I wouldn't want them to win even if they hadn't taken our players.

The difference between hoping to finish 7th (and failing spectacularly) or challenging for top 4 and playing in the CL semi final would suggest it was a good career move by our ex’s even if they did the equivalent of dumping us by text.

I do get why the vast majority are so annoyed by the ex Saints that they cannot tolerate anything to do with Liverpool now. Perhaps it's because my default position is that all footballers are generally arses and I probably wouldn't like many of them if I had to spend time with them, it has given me a detachment that since I never really loved them, I can never really hate them either. As such, I have enjoyed Liverpool's CL campaign as a football fan- they play the game in a really exciting way, and it's a great philosophy that if your defence is suspect then the solution is to make sure you are attacking the whole time so don't need to defend. It worked beautifully for 80 minutes (although they did ride their luck in the opening period), but has come back to bite them very slightly as the tie is not completely over.
Danny is right about Salah, those two goals were brilliant. What I liked about the second one, was actually the celebration- the calmness showed his self-belief, sometimes players go crazy because they can't really believe they did it which indicates a proportion of luck to what they did. Salah knew exactly what to do and knew he would do it, despite how difficult it was. A sign of the best player in the world on current form. Current form is the caveat, he needs to do it over a long period to unseat Messi, but I'd pick Salah ahead of him for a one off game right now.
Sorry if this sounds a bit gushing over a team considered the bad guys around here. Bottom line I am more of a fan of football than of Saints specifically, particularly right now when Saints give me so little to enjoy.

Salah's (lack of) celebration was all down to him coming to Liverpool from Roma so not wanting to celebrate against his former club (as is the current fashion).

You can't understand why them winning the champions league at the expense of our relegation is a bit upsetting? The last couple of seasons, I wasn't that bothered by them, other than in a panto villain kind of way, but this time it's different.

Another thing I dislike about many players, so he can join that club. I take it all back, he's stopped me even from enjoying watching him play.

I can't blame any of our players (or managers) that left after Liebherr forced Cortese out. It was at that moment that the club lost any ambition to be be any more than (at best) a PL also-ran.
Any player who worth his salt who has belief in his own ability to be more than an average PL player would obviously want to leave.
It's fun to root against the maudlin self-pity merchants though as Scousers are the lowest form of human life.

I’ve always disliked Liverpool but I absolutely loathe them now. As Jehram says it’s hard to take when they’re doing so well with our ex-players while we’re teetering on the brink of relegation. I would venture to say that, if VvD hadn’t been unsettled by these pricks we might be in a better position.

My point is that I can't share in the upset; when I see VVD or Mane or whoever prancing in celebration, it does bug me a bit, I won't pretend that. But Jurgen Klopp, I don't think he's necessarily the BEST coach in football but I do think he is the most FUN coach in football, and I am able to join in the ride a little bit when I watch games like last night. To expand on that, it's funny how basically all football teams play in the image of their manager isn't it? Liverpool just play like an enthusiastic man with a sense of humour. Contrast with the personality of Puel and then Pellegrino, the last 2 seasons all make sense.

Yep, Liverpool are even more entertaning than Man City to watch. They play with a pace and directness I like (sort of like us under Koeman but on steroids) which I find far more enjoyable to watch than the Barca-esque tippy-tappy possesion based football that Pep has City playing.
Liverpool may not win many trophies but they are great to watch.
