Talk of Forster returning to see out the last season of his contract on loan to Celtic. I guess the club are desperate to get rid of his wages. Would seem an awful decision from a football point of view. He's not brilliant but he's better than McColender (c) Furry Frank The Combat Wombat Who would be our number 2 keeper now that Gunn has been sold?? Hey, if you're going to use my IP, you should at least spell it properly! If true, it's a bit of a concern (unless they have someone else lined up). FF mayn't be the best keeper in the world, but the thought of another season with McColander as No1 fills me with relegation promise. Still, we might as well aim for the 10-0 record.

Window open 6 more weeks and there will be bargains to be had.
Europe's traditional big clubs have overstretched themselves trying to keep up with Chelsea and Citee and are having to get rid of some of the talent they'd hoovered up in past seasons. PSG are desperate to get Mbappe on a new contract and are trying to raise money selling some really quite good back-up players. Barca are in the same boat. Messi is out of contract and happy to re-sign on half his previous money but still need to shed squad players. Inter, Real Madrid and even Bayern need to sell to buy and Lewandoski is available.
Whilst these players may still be out of our reach, there is bound to be a knock on as other sides lower in the food chain have to sell to buy. Be interesting to see what bums are on what seats when the music stops...

He's not played for Chelsea's first team, but that's not necessarily a problem. Chelsea's business model with their youth team is normally to train up players to be sold for profit rather than play for Chelsea, sounds odd but it has worked for them. Sounds like in this case they won't be getting much cash, by offering a contract they probably hoped to sell later for a higher price.
Let's hope he's any good, but it's a potentially bargain price for a bit of extra depth in that position. Depends on what happens with Vestergaard, but we'll potentially have 5 CBs available now. I wonder if Ralph is thinking again of playing 3 of them at a time. It only ever seemed a stopgap measure when Hughes did it and then Ralph did too at first, but the current squad makeup probably suits that system.

If the Euros taught us anything it is 3 at the back and wingbacks is the way forward. KWP's form and the new left backs reputation both say "wingback" loud and clear. That would enable us to play Alfa, Stu and JWP* in the middle and still have 2 forwards. *if he can resist Villa EDIT: Seems Villa may have turned their attention to Cantwell from Norwich.

The Brandon Williams stories have been quiet for a few days, but we will still need full back cover on both sides. Williams seemed poor value for money at the quoted wages and loan fee as he probably wouldn't be a starter, but if United will budge a bit then he'd still be a good solution. I had hoped that Saints would come in for Cantwell ourselves, but as long as Villa leave JWP alone then fine.

So Messi is back at the Camp Nou but, before the new season, they need to clear £440M from their wage bill to stay within La Liga's salary cap!

Semeu being reported as done - on a free with a 1.5m sweetner to Chelsea and a juicy sell-on clause. England U18 player, wants to come to us as has been promised a fast track into 1st team football. Looked him up, and he's actually from Southampton.
We were apparently after enough Chelsea development team full-back who Brighton are going to get. It strikes me that with money being tighter generally and our divorce from the EU making it harder to sign the kind of players we might usually be successful with (Poles or Scandinavians who haven't broken into their national team regularly yet, or western European teenagers who aren't in a national youth team)... clubs of our ilk may now be changing tack towards getting young players from big clubs to run down youth contracts and promising them a ready-made pathway to first team football.

FF has turned down a new contract then. He seems to have forgotten that we continued to pay his wages for a whole season when he didn't feel like playing football.

Whilst the gutter press are still selling Lemina to Newcastle, Saints have been selling him to Nice.
£5.5M plus another wage of the payroll.

Sounds like Kane to City is on - Spurs collect £160m.
Strikes me, Vestergaard's value must now be about half of that...

Armstrong from Blackburn - incoming??? Watford have had a £15m bid for Armstrong knocked back. Seems Blackburn want £25M which is probably why we have lost interest. After all, Shane Long scored in our draw with Fulham yesterday. In other news, young Callum Slattery is going to Motherwell.

After all, Shane Long scored in our draw with Fulham yesterday. In other news, young Callum Slattery is going to Motherwell. £25m is ridiculous. He's in exactly the same contract situation as Ings, the only thing he has on Ings is that he's 5 years younger and there's no way we'd get £25m for Ings if he does go this summer. At a push I'd have said that £15m was a fair offer and Blackburn would probably have blinked if offered that, but if they genuinely want more than that then it's not worth it.
