It's watchable but very much of its time. Forget about the cutting comedy shows of the 80s like The Young Ones, this is about as bland as you can get. Gentle humour of the sort Little and Large trotted out in the 80s, an intentionally diverse cast (they made an effort to add an extra character into this series for which they only auditioned black actors) and the last episodes seemed to deviate into some pound shop version of Love Actually. The plot lines can be seen from a mile off. (Anyone who was genuinely was shocked when the person taking West Ham training at the end of the series was Nate must still believe in the tooth fairy) And the fact Richmond were promoted wasn't exactly a shock as Warner Brothers had previously announced they had come to a multi million $$$ deal with the Premier League to include their branding in the 3rd and final season. I can see why it's liked in America, they still like the tired stereotypical tropes of the Brits being sweary pint drinkers who spend the majority of the time down the pub and eating fish 'n chips. But as I say, though massively over-rated, it is still very gentle and inoffensive humour which I guess is exactly what makes it of its time. You get your kicks at casualty?!

It's not that's it's bad, just very 'meh'. Guess I'm expecting too much. When you look back at stuff like Porridge where each episode is basically a work of art and each joke a carefully and well constructed masterpiece this just looks likes it's some thing written by computer. e.g. Sweary man (for some reason) goes to see his niece's teacher after she's been caught.... swearing. Sweary man says he doesn't know where's she's picked that up from before standing up to leave and...... swearing. A punchline that could be seen coming from a country mile.

Do you know, I find it vaguely reassurig that you missed the point of that scene. It wasn't the swearing gag, that was a nice little extra layered on top.

"feck off Piers Morgan!" Worth watching all through just for that line in the final episode.

I have a hole in my life now season 2 of TL has drawn to its wonderful conclusion - a sense of loss I can only compare to how I feel at the end of the football season… others are entitled to disagree. As saintsfan73 says, it wouldn’t do for us to think alike; humour is divisive. Michael McIntyre is probably the nation’s favourite comedian and I find that unfathomable… I would only want to watch him in a no holds barred cage fight with Mike Dean. As for reviews, well… Anyone not yet seen the new Bond? I’ve read so many great reviews for it, but found it ponderous, pointless, a waste of so many great characters and with an ending that made me irrationally angry… A dreadful film (and I’m a huge Bond fan).
