I've watched a few aways on red button this season and have never seen any issue. Any chance it's impacted by area? I don't know but is there a way to ensure they concentrate most bandwidth etc on the location of the team so if I'm watching in Southampton I get a better service than those of you elsewhere?
I have no idea how Sky TV works

Other than the time earlier in the season when we had 20 mins or so without commentary it has worked ok, albeit with no replays and a single camera.

I have no idea how Sky TV works The picture freezing was definitely an internal thing at Sky, not with the receivers. Twitter users, presumably including Hampshire based, were all complaining. It wasn't just a buffering swirly message, the broadcast was coming through fine with the score and time graphic correctly displaying and updating. It was just that the video of the players on the pitch had paused. I can't remember if it happened both times, but when it then happened again a few minutes later the crowd sound was still coming through with a frozen picture and I was trying to work out what was happening based on the crowd reactions.
