Hola
Not working today, which is a relief after the last few weeks, but making an early start for the last day of my 40s (FFS) as we're in the queue for the ferry to Portsmouth (spits) for my much needed week off.
Still not entirely sure what we're doing, but I'm guessing it'll start with a visit to my folks since we're going to Hampshire.
Just a shame those lazy feckers at saints can't be bothered to play for my visit.

There’s a shitty work “away day”, which in reality means that everyone goes to a different building on site, and some useless management type tries to justify their existence by outlining the latest, nonsensical vanity project. But I’m not going, although my team is constantly undermined by the rest of our department, unlike the rest of the teams involved, we’re not allowed to close for one day. So I’m working. It will suck, as it’s a 10-6 shift, but it’s better than going to listen to bullshit all day.
The dog doesn’t like me being on this shift, it messes with her routine.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow, Jezza!
I hardly got any sleep last night so please just kill me now. We found out yesterday that we going to have to move because our Chinese landlord sold the house that we are renting to a Chinese mate of his (without informing us) and now this Chinese mate is in financial difficulties and wants to sell the house. What a pain in the arse! We only found all this out from the nice (also Chinese) estate agent who asked if she could come round and take photos because the new landlord can’t speak English or German.
I got the rental contract out yesterday and now I’m being confronted by my failure to get anything fixed over the past 5 years. That’s going to cost a bomb or we can just wave goodbye to our deposit.
This would have to come to light during a very busy week at work. I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t get back to sleep again so got up half an hour before my alarm. I wonder if work will mind if I doze off this afternoon.
Does anyone on here want to buy a house in Germany with me in it and rent it back out to me? I’m a great tenant (despite what you may have heard about me never getting anything fixed).

Also, I’ve got two suspected finger warts and the stuff I’ve got to treat them makes my middle finger look mouldy.
Sweet Death!

Morning.
My day will be defined by the hour-long dental appointment this afternoon. I'm never a fan of dentists, but on top of that, it is going to cost £800 for work I can't get on the NHS. It's a postcode lottery thing. My daughter-in-law's father had similar work done on the NHS, and he lives in deepest, darkest Dorset.
How long before Saints' next match??

Fwiw, I didn't get much sleep last night either as we were up fairly late than had a 5am alarm... hadn't slept well the previous ones too, thanks to work. However, the ferry is so empty of passengers (maybe 20... the rest is all freight) that we got a cabin upgrade for £9, so will go back to bed now we've had our greasy spoon. Your landlord isn't Chairman Gao, is he?!

Weren't you looking at houses in Welsh Wales?

Weren't you looking at houses in Welsh Wales? We sold our place in Reading, paid off mortgage and were looking to buy somewhere in the UK so we wouldn’t get priced out of the market over time. We couldn’t find anywhere suitable though so that place in the UK is still pending. We can’t afford to buy in Frankfurt so will have to carry on renting.

You can come back now Yates, you've expressed your feelings! What is it now? 6 years in Germany? Less than that for manslaughter.

I like where we are living at the moment. We were just saying recently that we felt at home so that was probably the kiss of death.
Now we’ll have to facilitate someone else buying it while we find somewhere else.
We did say we would downsize when Ms Y went to uni but that’s not for another 18 months yet.
Rent will have gone up quite a bit in the past 5 years so we won’t get such good value for money now.
Oh well. I suppose a change is as good as a rest. I just can’t be arsed with it right now.
