Last minute change, I was all ready to include something from the new Girls in Synthesis album, but this song suddenly popped into my head. Now, I love short songs, I like the instant rush and excitement, the challenge of getting a political point across in 30 seconds, but this song is bloody long and has few words (but they make a good point nonetheless) and I find it mesmerising, I'm always more drawn to the rhythm section and both Ayse Hassan (bass) and Fay Milton (drums) are wonderful. The band haven't done anything for 7 years, but I'm always hopeful that they will make more music together as I love the two albums they have released.

Isn't he away in Nashville at the moment though? Flew home from San Francisco end of last week but probably up to his neck in preparations for Le Roche Festival which is just weeks away.

Yes. Sorry. Got back last week and then in Paris this weekend for daugher's wedding. Planning my own 70th b'day party next week and genuinely up to my neck .... I could probably go during week of July 8. Can someone fill in for me here? I haven't even been able to catch up with the last couple of weeks. I will get that done this week.
Oh feck. Just realised I also have 6 Masters theses to grade. Help. Who knew retirement would this crazy?

I like this track, it's a cover of the original Husker Du song but I like this one more I think.
Not got much more to say, haven't come prepared for this week but this would have been yesterday's track if I'd known.
I know this is a bit much for some of you, and please see if you can listen all the way through, I know it initially sounds like there isn't any complexity to this but there really is… And after a while you get into it in a strange way. Anyway, what you got to lose? About 2 1/2 minutes of your life is all… So please hang in there guys
In honour of our current lovely weather

this is today's track by Ghostpoet titled: "One Twos/Run Run Run"
I love this guy, it's a weird mixture of music he comes up with, I know he does a lot of work with African musicians but there's a lot of electronic stuff, samples and almost spoken word about his work. he is a cosmopolitan individual, an artist as well as a composer and poet and I believe he is now currently based in Berlin although I think he's a Londoner originally despite his non-music African name.
He loves collaborations and according to wiki he has recently done some installations with visual and sound artists. This guy doesn't limit himself with traditional labels around what an artist is and I think it comes across in his music. This is old now, but I still love it and play it regularly.
You gotta be in the right mood for this kind of stuff but he's done 2 superlative albums that I've heard so far, Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam being my favourite (also contender for my favourite ever album title), the next one entitled "Some Say I So I Say Light" was different but also good. I haven't caught up with his later works but I fully intend to as he is easy to listen to and has great production values if you don't mind complicated soundscapes..
